Hey namkha just found out about the real seed company a few weeks ago....when I read your description of the sheberghan I did a double take...I used to grow a strain in the late 60's early 70's that sounds identical....5-6 feet tall....same juniper, orange and cocao aroma's....made absolutely premium hash....chick I used to know brought the seeds back from northern afghanistan in 1967....these plants grew extremely well outdoors in central california...unfortunately this strain was lost due to fire in 1973....but I am going to pick up some of your seeds and give them a go in the spring.....if the sheberghan turns out to be the same or very close to the one I had ...this is going to be a real blast from the past....

Hey - yeah, these were got from a Pashtun guy selling some amazing charas/hashish (they usually call it "chaars" round Pakistan and Afghanistan) --- I only have his description of the plants to go on, as I never saw them myself - I'm still waiting to see how they grow out outdoors, hopefully we'll have some reports soon - we only have limited amounts of this particular variety... one American guy (he posts as Pops) has run them indoors and the plants he has seem to have grown out more like a sativa in that environment.... the Mazar-i-Sharif have produced sativa like plants and indica like ones depending, it seems, on the environment and the particular seed... this is all in keeping of what Robert Clarke says about seeds bought back from Afghanistan in the '70s, that there was often a lot of variation

the Pashtun who sold us the Mazar-i-Sharif said that he visited California in the '70s, including Humboldt area, and that he took seeds with him

Very interesting info, small world!

Hey namkha sounds like different phenotypes in both the sheberghan and the mazar.....could make for some good breeding potential ....I think I will grow out some mazar as well as sheberghan.....as far as seeds go when you said you had limited supply on the sheberghan does that mean when they are gone they are gone for good or will you be getting more ?.....also will you have your own site up and running soon so I can buy direct from you or do I have to go through a reseller ?

namkha
hey - we hope to have our own site up asap - by first week Jan if possible, been relying on some people to finish it as a favour while we were away and they just seem to have been dragging their feet endlessly - now that we have a small amount of money from this we're going to pay someone to finish the work and get the site up, it's about fecking time
PotBelly
With the current rate of sales, when do you anticipate running out of the Sheb?
namkha
hey - couldn't answer that, but we will be holding back all the stock we have to sell through our own site - we have been losing a lot of money waiting for people to finish off the work on the site and the rates we get through going through retailers are not ideal compared to what we would make selling them through our own site

if you keep an eye on these forums I will post here as soon as the site is up

Hey namkha early in the new year sounds good .....I am currently in the process of purchasing an old farm which has 20 acres of scrub/woodland......hopefully the deal goes through and I can start getting everything set up for early spring.....going to be a busy 2009......do you know what the germination rates are like on the sheberghan ? .....will you be selling them in packs of 25 or only 12 ?

morganna
namkha
Sheb we are only doing in 12s - germ rates should be 90% plus, though they can take some time - heat mats recommended

Mazar-i-Sharif would seem to be similar plants and have very good germ rates and vigour

both should be very vigorous and happy outdoors in your region - I would guess that they will be ready early Nov

nice to hear that we can soon buy direct.

will we be able to pay via PayPal?
morganna
Yeah namkha don't live in california now.....going to be growing the mazar and sheb out in southern saskatchewan , canada.... lots of sunshine , semi-arid , summers are quite warm , fall is usually sunny and dry.....obviously a shorter growing season than california but I think they should do okay.....being cold tolerant will help as fall mornings can be frosty but by the afternoon temperatures can be up in the 20's.......I will also be doing a few of each in a greenhouse ...see if it makes a noticeable difference towards the end of flowering.....can't wait to get going on this one ....really looking forward to see how things turn out......

Sherb is not available at any sites that were carrying- sold out. Any idea where to get now or when it will be available direct? Also, is there a Real Seed website?

hiya - the website is coming along nicely, we have a good guy on the case with it and card payment and payment by post will all be available --- Shiberghan will only be available from us direct for the time being --- have a look through this forum if you need to contact us about it urgently
