Nice fish m8 wink.gif ive never fished for carp before as there isnt many venues in scotland to fish for them so i opted for the pike. Now im living down england theres defo many more choices for the angler, going to start with the pike as its what i know but will be trying lots of diff species this year & cant wait. Just the other day i found some places to fish that hold pike & carp to 40lb & its only a 10min drive from my house yahoo.gif standing by the water checking the place out & i just wished i had my rods with me, looked superb & cant wait to gather my gear & head out for the day stoned.gif

Tried it over in romania.

not my cuppa tea though sick.gif like you say loads of razor sharp bones and it's very fatty fish.
it's certainly a sight to see when you walk into a supermarket over there and there's a tank full of
live 5 - 7lb'ers swimming about for you to pick which one you want unsure.gif
especially when your used to catching them and putting them back.

Edited to add very nice fish mate glad it was put back where it belongs instead of on a plate wink.gif

I've never eaten one straight from the river, but I bought a couple in Poland....one for Christmas Dinner...

At the market they sell them in tanks of clean fresh water, and you take them home and keep them live in your bath till Christmas Eve.....this acts as a kind of purge, and gets rid of any muddiness to the flesh....very very tasty fish, and if you handy with a fillet knife the bones ain't too bad either......

Got a taste for pike while I was over there too, don't do brown fishing meself, but got a mate over here goes pike fishing in the winter, and always saves me a couple....again, really tasty, and once you've dealt with a couple, filleting becomes quite easy.....

Neither pike nor carp is a patch on perch though, now there's a tasty fish!!!

Never tried zander, but a mate of mine reckons its similar to cod?? Anyone here eat zander?

And, cracking fish in the OP bizi....

What's the difference between a fully scaled mirror , and a common....if ever I caught carp I just called anything with full set of scales a common....?

Mono
Ta jiffa, seen the difference now....

unlucky mate, we've all been there - you got her route for next time though so good luck for then yinyang.gif

ive not been on the rivers this winter so far, last river fish i had was out the Trent on a flying visit last year - 3 fish to 16odd pound, beautiful hard fighting fish they were, and a nice spot to fish stoned.gif

hope you all have a few screamers, there are some crackers in the rivers whistling.gif
che
there's nothing better than a few beers, a full bag of herb, rods out and a absolute screamer......
