Hi all.
I,ve now gone 12/12 in my 4 pot wilma and for some reason my e.c is raising from 5.5 to about 6.5 within 24 hours of changing my water.

Is there any reason for this ????

I flush every week. my flush consists of pouring 16ltr of ph 5.5 adjusted water throught each pot. Then i refill my res with aprox 30ltr ph 5.5 adjusted water allow my temps to reach normal then continue to flush for a full 24 hour feeding period.

But since ive gone 12/12 i cant seem to keep a steady p.h level. I even swapped all the water out last night and the fresh nute solution had a ph of 5.6. I got home today and the p.h had risen too 6.6.

Its my first grow using a hydro system and im out of ideas can someone please help????

Oi oi jiffa.
Im using rain water direct from my water butts which has an E.C of 0.1 and a P.H thats always under 5 even before i add any nutes
jiffa
so the water is under 5 , you add nutes and that does what ?

are you using ph up

whats the water like from out the tap

this is about ph and not ec as the title say's?

After adding nutes my solution has a ph of around 6-6.5. So i normally add a drop or 2 of ph down to bring my solution to around 5.5.

Ive only ever had to add ph up once.

I also notice today that the tips of the leaves on the new growth at the top of my plants has begun to curl downwards and the tips of the new leaves have gone dark dry and crispy. if that help any.

The tap water here has a ph of over 7 and its ec is way to hight even before i add nutes.

Sounds like overfeeding?

What's the current EC (ie not pH) of your nute solution?

Leaf curling (downwards) is often a sign that the plant is trying to conserve water (by reducing transpiration from the leaves) for some reason. The brown tips of the leaves suggest that it's related to the (too-high) concentration of nutes in your solution.

See #1 on this page: http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?auto...showarticle=441

I wonder whether pH fluctuations are a sign of things rather than the cause of things? (ie sort-out the feeding & watering and the pH stands a better chance of stabilising)

As ever - pics would help...

Cheers

I'm assuming that the tips are brown..? They're crispy at least...

Its not over feeding im sure of that. My plants have been in flower for a week and 2 days and so far and I havent allowed my EC to get over 1.0. All through veg i never allowed the ec to go above 0.8.

And I probably wont raise my ec for at least another week or so.

The leaves seem to be drying out they are turning a sort of dark greeny grey colour. And just crumble to almost dust when touched.

Could I have overdone it with bloom???. As ive swapped my solution and the new growth doesn,t seem to be suffering now ive added less bloom stim in my res

Its not over feeding im sure of that.

A pic would help... my next guess would be some sort of issue with the roots/root zone - but I don't grow in pebbles or use drippers so I don't know how realistic that is - hopefully someone else will be along soon to help...

G'luck!
