Hi Everybody!

I want to build my own cloner as I cannot afford the commercial one's.

The black collar that goes around the plant stem and sits at the neck of the plant pot is apparently Neoprene.

Does anyone know where I can buy sheets of this stuff so I can make my own collars to suit, please?

Alternative suggestions would also be very welcome!

regards

wetsuits are made of neoprene, if that helps you on your quest

Go to builders merchants...that stuff is used to insulate water pipes!

You can buy the mesh pots and collars from your local hydro store for around 40p per collar and can't remember how much the pots were

Another thought;

Try to think of companies that make products using neoprene rubber (like wet suit manufacturers) that are located in your area (this may take a bit of effort). Any manufactorer will have waste product. If you want to go through their product legitimately, call ahead and say the material is for a children's art project.

Pretty sure that they make those pool floats that are long tubes out of neoprene...

I've seen kitchen foil used as a lid. Poke a hole for each cut.

Forget using neoprene from diving suits!!

If you want to make your own, find a local rubber manufacturer....they often sell cheap offcuts for pennies, and these will work well as collars. If you're in London, try Pentonville Rubber in Kings Cross. V. handy place for all foams...
