hi,
since i've just been putting me room back together i thiught i'd take some pix of the nft set up i've got.
i've only got access to the room thru a small hatch , at the far end i have a rvk fan inside a plastic box with some rockwool bats around it .filter is up on the roof and the exhaust gos out thru the wall.
my res. is a 125 liter cold water cistern
jiffy hanger on the wall which support 2x2 timbers across the room with a fall towards the tank
on top of the timbers sits the tray.
this is a sheet of ply with 2x1 roofing batten on edge making 2 channels wih a gap in the middle for the pipe.you can see the hole wher the pipe come up.
now i put guttering on the end to catch the waste .
you can see the pipe coming out of the tank , it makes a right angle turn and gos to the far end to a tee into each channel
put in some spreader mat and stick the corex sheet on top
the cardboard box you can see on the left is a light trap on the inlet, there is somthing similar on the other side of the wall
all the pipe from the pump sits in insulation , the type plumbers use around copper pipe ,not tostop it freezing

but to minimize noise thru vibration from the pump.
the thing i like about this set up is you can make the tray fit the room and with piping and guttering you can have your res. in the place that is most convenient for you .
all the power runs thru a small consumer unit with a rccd in it into a board on the wall which controls the lights, fan and gas............
and fed up with watching all that sodium light hit the wall instead of the plant i made some shades , i sort of scratched my head a bit and did some tin-snipping and rivetting and they came together, since i did them i've seen some plans on the net might even be on 420.i actually wanted to paint them white but i havent found a paint that is heat resistant and sticks to ally yet.
peace

(oh yeah , i've got two 240v server fans to move the air on a bit of batten that i can pull up and down , there wired in series to halve the voltage, this makes the run slower but they are almost completely silent )
phew , now i need a cuppa and a spliff

Easy Cheese Farmer, looking very smart, even better that its home made!! Well done dude!
Are the lights 400 watters??
You deserve a

break after all that hard work!!
Take It Easy,
VRG
thanks VRG,your right lights are 400w sodium , thinking about putting in 600s .the room measures 3'x6' so thats 44 watts per sq. ft. which is o k but i've seen people recommend quite a bit more.

What are the temps running like? Do you think you could get away with the extra heat from the 600's??
Take It Easy,
VRG
temps in the room are high 32/34 . in the res its lower at about 24/26.
i've just put in the cuttings (camera with its rightful owner so no pix

) as soon as they get a little bigger the transpiration seems to cool the room also the leaf cover over the channels keeps water temps down . i only ever seem to have high temps on 18/6 anyway since i got a decent fan.
as for using 600s i'll have to suck it and see

If the temps are 32/34 at the moment I wouldn't bother trying the 600's! IMHO They'r roughly 1/2 has hot again!!
Is the fan a 6" high powered?
Do you have a fan for inlet?
Just a friend has a room almost identicle in size with 2 x 600w lights and 2 x 6" high powered RVK's and he can usually only have 1 light on at a time!

damn cheese

i am very impressed with your room m8. bloody nice work.
are you an electrician ?
i alway's wanted to put my timers and plug's on a board but i aint got a clue how

.
got any link's on learning how to do this ?
what's a consumer unit ? and rccd ?
i like the fan in the box idea, simple and look's like it work's well. i might try that

keep up the good work m8 sonic..
hey thanks for the info VRG , i've got loan of two cannatronics ballasts , i;ve just got to connect them up and i will be able to take pictures of my grow room in flames
the ballast seem to run quite cool when they were at my mates house , cerrtainly cooler than the sunlight systems ballasts i'm still using after all these years, but i guess the lamps may be a problem .
i have a 6" fan but its the lower powered of the two 6" models .no fan on the way in .
probably gona be a couple of days before i get back in there to swap them over and then we'll know for sure.

No probs CF,
Hope all goes to plan mate, you've certainly put a lot of work into it, and it all looks very professional!
Looking forward to the harvest pics!!
Will it be cheese??
Smoke a fat one!
VRG
hi sonic.thanks for the kind words
no i'm not an electrician but i've worked with a few ,tbh if you know very little about electrics i would find someone who does rather than try to learn for safetys sake.
consumer unit is a fuse box , the breaker (fuse) inside is rated to trip out should my room start to draw any more current than its supposed to and a RCCD is a earth leakage device,if ANY wire in the room touches earth (or you or another wire or pretty much anything) it trips the whole thing.pretty much essential if youre working with elctrics and water together.

I'm just a compost grower cf,but i like the look of your DIY shades you've made.
Like it all to be honest, but i'm into them shades.
Any chance of telling us the measurements of the shades [roughly will do] ?
I'm presuming you've cut it out from some sheet and folded and pop-rivetted it ?
I've got about 7-10 days to make some hoods for the 600 SONT+ and 400 MH for flowering[BTW the 600 is quite a bit hotter than the 400]and i reckon i can duplicate what you've done if you don't mind.
