I bought the collectors edition and have tried to play it about 10 different times but I just could never get into it properly. I'm a big RPG fan too but it just never felt right. I've tried playing vanilla as well as with mods (lots of them) and still can't seem to really get into it. I'm getting a bit sick of hearing Patrick Stewart's voice at the beginning TBH.
I've not had any problems putting in 80 hours on Fallout 3 though.
I totally disagree about best game of all time. In my mind, that accolade has to go to FF7 with COD4 running a close second.
Of course, everyone has different opinions on what makes a good game - you're wrong though. tongue.gif

id agree about cod4, its probably still the best online multiplayer game ive ever played, it shits all over cod5 (world at war) - mind you i have only played the beta of that but was most dissapointed
tbh far cry 2 and gears 2 craps all over cod5, i just hope the full game is ALOT better than the beta, i guess we will find out friday (4 uk 360 owners)

have you got the cod5 full game yet then mrm33na? if so whats it like?

thanks in advance smoke.gif

It's truly a great game that you could easily go back to again and again and still not see everything. They certainly put a lot of effort into it and it really paid off.

A tiny spoiler but if you find yourself activating a robot, back off and go do some other side-missions/exploring etc. You'll be thankful for it.

Enyoyed it until my graphics card blew up 49.gif

But once I upgrade my PC I'll be starting it again, armed with a bit more knowledge regarding experience and character development so I can choose the right skills at the start.

And some of the addons are a bit pointless, but the one aimed at magic users (Frostcrag Spire I think it's called) and the one aimed at vampire characters (Deepscorn Hollow, I think, the one with the prisoner) are both vital IMHO to reduce pissing about.

Yeah oblivion was a very awesome game. I found it got a little reptatibe at times open oblivion gate, collect stone from top repeat 10x.

I fnished the story and collected my special armour. There were still tons of quests I never finished though!

Playing through fallout3 at the minute and loving everyminute of it. I am 15 hours in and just reached level 10 and got my power armour training.
eggbag
spelling error --> reptatibe = Repetitive

Oh, I forgot, the Mehrunes Razor addon is also worthwhile, not for the sword at the end, which is a liability (cos the instant kill can be reflected back, killing you instantly pinch.gif ), but because the Morag Tong assassin earlier in it who gets killed is wearing probably the best light armour in the game for a sneaky assassin type character.
Gr33nLungs
yeah i'm not too impressed with cod5, i do prefer the MP maps but the game just doesnt feel finished
im currently flitting between fallout and oblivion, ive just found the cure for vampirism and murdered the dark brotherhood, im gonna go and work for the black hand now

I can only play it when totally stoned. The sound design is awesome, and the forests are really stunning, so just walking around and running away from mountain lions for about 20 minutes is always time well spent.
parka_-boy
I played it when it first came out and thought it was great, but once I got to about level 14 and had enough items to cloak me the game become unchallenging. The way you gain xp for your character is super, I play NWN2 quite a bit online a powerleveling by farming sucks balls.

Oblivion is awesome!!! Defo one of my all time favourite games. Still haven't clocked it though! rolleyes.gif

hate the way you could steal something miles away and the first pig you run into busts you that was a huge design flaw but it is awesome some big fuck off monsters and bosses wouldnt of gone amiss nothing like a good old fashioned dragon slaying...

Goblins are annoying little fuckers biggrin.gif

I'm an evil fucker, I loved mullering spellcasters. Sneak up on them, area effect silence if there's a group, or arrow poisoned with a silence alchemy potion if there's just one, then laugh an evil laugh as they try and attack you with their wimpy little daggers mwahahahaha.
Wackness
I thought Oblivion was amaing, i did kind of ruin the game for myself by making myself completely invisible, very easy by the way, but it wrecked the game as there was no longer any challenge.

But my favoirte games of all time are CoD4 and Final Fantasy 7

I just cant get into this Game. Not given it enough time. Just got to many other games on the go.

Im going to give it a good all day session on 360 and see.

I've not played the xbox version but I assume the mechanics are the same as the PC. The secret to character development is assigning your major skills properly (or whatever they're called), cos the way the experience system works is that you level up by using your major skills, and when you level up you get to assign points to your stats. The mistake people make is to nominate their major skills as the skills they use the most - if you want to be a warrior type then nominate weapon and armour skills as primary, assassin nominate stealth etc. That's not the way to do it, the way to do it is to nominate as a major skill one skill from each governing attribute (so one strength skill, one endurance skill etc), while at the same time making sure that the skills aren't your main ones (so if you want to play as a sword using warrior, don't pick blade as a major skill), cos the number of attribute points you get (up to a maximum of 5) when you level up depends on how much you've used skills dependent on that attribute BUT how often you level up depends on how often you use your major skills, so if all your major skills are skills you use all the time, you'll level up quickly without having used skills dependent on a particular attribute enough to get the fill +5 bonus. And since when you level up, all the enemies level up as well, if you pick your major skills wrong you can end up facing enemies way harder than you because you haven't made the most of the attribute gain per level.

Sorry if that makes no sense at all, I've tried to explain it the best I can pinch.gif

Oh, and luck and endurance are the best choices for favoured attribute, luck cos of how infrequently you get luck points and endurance because hit point gains per level are based on endurance so it's best to get your endurance up as quickly as possible.

Also, personally I liked playing as a vampire at low levels, the benefits of vampirism far outweigh the hassle of having to feed before the final day to prevent daylight damage, so try and find a nest of vampires as soon as possible and get infected with vampirism. If you don't like playing as a vampire there's a quest to get the cure so you're not stuck with it.

thumbsup.gif Thanks boojum great tips. Im going to start a new game. Great tips cheers.

edited cause i cant get used to this fooking laptop keyboard im using. pinch.gif

Final tip is to do the main quest up to and including The Battle For Kvatch as early as possible, cos if you leave that quest too late it becomes fucking rock hard, even at level 5 it can be tricky. And do the thieves guild (at least the finding the thieves guild quest) and mages guild quests as early as possible, cos they both give you handy bonuses (the thieves guild gives you access to someone who can take the bounty off your head and stolen tags off loot so you can sell it, the mages guild gives access to the arcane university with its enchantment altars), and spend time wandering the wilderness to find the Daedric shrines and do those quests as soon as you're able, cos the treasure you get isn't level dependent so it's best to get it as early as possible, especially Azura's and Nocturnal's (especially especially Azura's), cos Azura's star is in essence a reusable grand soul gem and perhaps the most useful item in the game, and nocturnal's gives you a skeleton key which makes lock picking far less of a pain in the arse - lock picking is dead easy, but the skeleton key saves hassle.

lol.gif as you can guess, I like this game lol.gif

Oh, and when you get to fight the champion at the end of the arena quests, kill the fucker, cos that's the easiest way to open the dark brotherhood quests.
Trippy D
I wet made for this game when it was released for the xbox. I found it almost as additive as the greatest game ever made final fantasy 7> Its one of those games where the misses tuts a lot and pops her head in the linving room at three in the morning and says ' are you coming to bed or what' rofl.gif

Im gonna put it in in a miinte i think since im snowed
Boojum
Oh, one final point, after opening the dark brotherhood quests you may want to wait til later to actually do them, cos they all add to your infamy points, so it's best to leave them until you have a decent amount of fame points. And pick a trader and use mainly that one to sell your stuff to, cos every time you trade with a trader their attitude to you goes up and you get better prices via bartering. I recommend The Gilded Carafe in the market district of the imperial city, cos she sells alchemical ingredients and has the highest amount of gold of any normal trader.
