more farmed Nepalese charas strains

I'll post some Nepalese indica photos up here later --- strains in these regions are generally harvested in the first half of November

Beautiful shots Namkha... thanks for sharing.

that last shot is a giant, wow
namkha
hey - glad you're enjoying them, will add more later

yeah, these Nepalese go to about 2 - 2.5m generally --- slightly shorter than the Kumaoni

Nepal seems to be getting closer to ganja culture -- kind of at the intersection of the charas culture to the NW and the ganja culture to the SE

Where were the pics taken in Nepal Ngakpa?

namkha
hey LSL --- I'm kind of reluctant to be too precise with the answer on that --- Nepal is not such a big place anyway, so people who really want to track stuff down can do it no problem

the jungli strain is from Central Nepal, north in the middle hills, close to Tibet --- they are from nearby a very important Saivite (Siva) pilgrimage area --- close to 3000m is where the good stuff grows

the large farmed strain is from Mid-Western Nepal in a region that sees very few trekkers --- last 10 years or more it has been off limits due to the "Maoist insurgency"

if you have been checking out other Nepalese threads, say the one on the Annapurna Sativa, I can tell you these are 99% certain from Shikha --- I don't mind writing that here as thousands of people walk that trek every year

elmanito
Hey Namkha,

I'm looking for a fast flowering Nepal sativa strain. Can you recommend any strain from that region?

Namaste : yinyang.gif
namkha
Hey - typically the charas strains grown in the mountains are harvested around midNov -- lowland ganja strains can go till as late as Feb --- the earliest flowering strains I saw were jungli varieties (in pics above) which I guess could finish as soon as mid to late Oct. ... we should have this jungli and a couple of Nepalese charas strains available in the next month - the jungli will come as part of a jungli three pack via our own site
elmanito
Hey Namkha,

Pic nr 3 was taken mid Oct.I must say very nice buds. What could you tell about the climate, flowering period, mold resistancy ect.
Could you tell the adres of your site

Namaste yinyang.gif
namkha
Pic no. 3 is a domestic charas sativa from Western Nepal - grown 1000m up to as high as about 3000m at most - finishes mid Nov - very citrus smelling plants, also used for seeds and fibre

the best charas sativas in Nepal are used exclusively for charas and are smaller more compact plants about 1.5m - 2m - we have seeds of these also

there are many microclimates in Wesern Nepal - some growing regions are in rain shadows, some receive much more rain (eg parts of Annapurna area)

as with the Himalaya generally, June to Sept is heavy monsoon - from winter equinox onwards rains draw to a close and the weather is dry bright and clear --- higher you are the colder it is at night etc. etc.

this year the monsoon finished late, but the weather from Oct onwards was extremely hot and sunny - the good charas this year in Nepal is superb, def. a good vintage

we don't have a site up yet, but the plan is for it to be online very soon
elmanito
Do these small charas plants also have a strong citrus smelling, if so than these strains are also strong resistant against molds. The higher the % of limonene in the essential oil the more resistant against molds they are.Do you know perhaps if these strains have CBD.
Could you be more accurate about very soon, is it the beginning of 2009 or later?

Namaste yinyang.gif
namkha
hey - should be by Jan

yes, many Nepalese plants/varieties are very citrus

as for CBD - no idea - but from reading Sam Skunkman's posts he reported that most Nepalese were just high THC no CBD --- I have read other people mentioning low CBD

cheers,

Namkha

Good day Namkha,

I've found a Nepal strain which start to flower early (half July till end September). This strain is not so potent, but it can be used to reduce flowering time for the coming Nepal Charas strains you gonna offer in 2009.It would be nice to have a good potent Nepal strain which can be harvest in September instead of mid-November.

I've got here a link of Charas harvest in the highlands of Nepal.
Hemp cultivation in the highlands of Nepal

About the CBD, there are Nepal strains with high THC and low CBD, but i know there also are in the Kalopani region strains with low THC and high in CBD.I don't know which region of Nepal your strains are coming from.

Nice strain it is too. The most sativaish phenos have purple buds, a common trait in nepal or an anomaly?
elmanito
Hey Dr.Pseudo,

Do you have any experience with this strain?

Not much more than we discussed in pm. cool.gif You should also check out bluehemps nepalese, that's quite early too.
elmanito
There is not much info about their Nepal strain.

Hey

We have several Nepalese lines now ready for release:

1. A Nepalese jungli strain (see jungli pics above)
2. A squat "indica" Nepalese charas strain
3. A farmhouse Nepalese strain used for charas, seed and fibre production (see trees above)

more info here on when and where they will be available soon

Hey Namkha,

Marvelous, three different Nepal strains. Are they all late flowering strains?
Which of the three strains will be the smallest?

Hey - the strain used exclusively for charas should be the shortest - the source tells me it is about 1m - 2m, but I have not had a chance to view the plants directly myself, only a couple of bad pics, so at the minute I only have his word to go on... the charas was fabulous, the same as you can see in the latest post in the "charas and garda thread"

I will send out some testers of this charas variety to people if they guarantee they will do a complete grow report

as for late flowering - depends what you mean by late flowering - I think of high altitutude Nep strains as more mid-flowering (the lowland ganja strains can go as late as Feb)... but the earliest finisher will most likely be the jungli variety... the pics you see earlier were from equinox, and the plants were already well into flowering
elmanito
Hey Namkha,

Could you be more specific what sort of a grow report you want to have.
With late flowering i meant like some strains i have that they start to flower begin of September till half-November,but if you have Nepali strains which are full in flower during autum-equinox than thats interesting for the growers at the Nortern Hemisphere.

Perhaps you could give me some further information about Nepalese strains. The pictures you previously posted of Nepalese plants looked like 3-4 metre high plants very similar to some Mexican strains from the 70's. It may have just been the camera angle.

Also on the web are many photos of 6 metre Nepal plants growing almost wild in the Himalayas. There is one photo of a 30 ft high Nepalese cannabis tree. An old 80's Dutch seed catalogue has a very interesting description of the wild Nepal seeds it offers and again they grow into trees. I think from memory that Clarke also describes Nepalese temple ball plants as very tall slender phenotypes.

I am just wondering if you noticed these large strains on your travels? I totally believe you that the shorter varieties you have encountered are more potent but as a breeder I am always interested in finding very large varieties to cross with Thai. In countries that are limited by law to only growing a certain number of plants per person then it makes sense to grow trees.

I saw plants being grown for ganja around Pokhara that looked very similar to that - I have a pic of one somewhere that was at least 4m high and was still in early flower in Dec --- it would have been ready by about midFeb I reckon and the owner of the particular monster said they planned to use it for Shiva Ratri (Shiva Night) which is in March
namkha
The Villain's Nepalese are looking promising smile.gif some signs of stress on the leaves, but they look like a strain which could be run indoors and out

This plant is a particularly stretchy pheno - it was started indoors, and started into flower under 12/12 before I put it out in the greenhouse about 2 weeks ago.
I started 6 Nepalese seeds - 5 germinated, and I got 4 females and 1 male.
3 females and the male are still indoors in small pots.
I've taken cuttings from each plant and the idea of the grow is to choose a female as a mother. I'm also planning to pollinate a bud on each to get some seeds for future use. Once I've got a good female I might try a cross with something next grow.
Unfortunately I've got a really nasty attack of LSF at the moment - I'm tackling it with regular sprays of essence which has slowed it down, but it's made a bit of a mess of some of the plants.

The plants are in Westlands MP with JI with about 40% sharp sand. They've all had Plant Magic granules - they've had no feed to date but have had molasses and seaweed occasionally.

This an indoor female

It's a pretty sad looking specimen due to the LSF - I'm just hoping I can get enough from them to get an idea of the smoke.

Just thought I'd add an update.
I moved 2 more Nepalese into the greenhouse a couple of days ago as they were looking terrible indoors. One problem is that my indoor grow room gets too hot - there's not much I can do to improve it at the moment. Combined with the LSF they didn't look like they were going to last much longer, whereas the one in the greenhouse has improved hugely.
Here's one that was indoors -

The one from indoors

It seems to me that the Nepalese are particularly susceptible to heat stress - as you can see the leaves on the indoor plant are horrendously clawed (there in weak compost and haven't been fed). You can see how much better the one that's been outdoors is.

Just for comparison here's a pic of a Golden Lao in the same indoor grow room - about the same distance from the light.

I presume that the Lao is from a warmer tropical environment, and seems better able to cope with the heat.

Namaste' Namkha, I'm in the 'Dam at christmas santa.gif so, firstly where can I get those seeds and how much are they and do you know Kailash @ Herakhan ? Pass the chillum 31.gif - Bom Shiva Shankar
namkha
Hi --- I haven't been lucky enough to visit Herakhan yet, but I would love to

if I was you I would grow something local, I'm sure you can get good farmhouse and jungli lines not far south from you --- I would just get a big bag of jungli from somewhere round Nanda Devi area and throw it around where you are living

Real Seed Co seeds are available ar therealseedcompany.com and a few retailers such as seedsman.com

we have on Kumaoni line which is the Pahari Farmhouse, makes great high mountain charas
