I was musing the other day about where fishing licenses come from -viz. a license to harvest fish.
The full-on game license allows you to take salmon and sea trout home for the pot - and different waters have different catch limits.

.. and salmon / sea trout taken have to be recorded - presumably not brown trout ....

.. where I was going .. I think is there's no law says you can't actually go fishing "accidentally" for sea trout and salmon - so long as you put them back... I know it's irrelevant as the Grayling is treated as a coarse fish license-wise.

As you were. wacko.gif

in scotland if they have a tag on the salmon you have to return it,their are various counters on the rivers its just to see how many made it this year,as for grayling theirs no law up here that says to return them, but they dont make good eating lol.gif ive ate loads o them their boney as hell.
