it depends on the nutrients you are using, and whether the hydro system is active or passive.
You can push active systems a bit more, but the downside is that if you push the cf, then you need to wash through more frequently and more thoroughly, and so end up wasting a lot of nutrients.
Anything above 2.3 is going to damage your plants. to be honest, increasing your cf above 2.0 is not really going to make any difference to your yield anyway.
More nutrients does not equate to fatter buds, it just equates to more chemicals that you have to get rid of at the end of your grow.
Try adding other stuff instead, or spend your time getting the environment for the plants spot on, rather than wasting your nutes.
If you are determined to do it, I would take it up to 2.2 maybe, and leave it there for a couple of weeks, running the system on ph'd water for 24 hours every 7 days. Look for nutrient burn on the very tips of your leaves.
If the plant survives, then you can push it up by maybe .1 every 2 weeks
I don't recommend doing it though. Even if the plant miraculously survives, you are going to end up with a load of excess chemicals in your plant when you smoke it. They are set at recommended levels for a reason. Some of them, like Canna, for instance, set their recommended levels a bit too high in my opinion.
Up to you tho bud. Its your crop

I asked this question a while back...
JGS suggested not going over 1.8, which I haven't and I haven't had problems since.
So I guess 1.8 - 2.0 is the absolute maximum
Tho, when they're wee little planties, start of with a weak solution, and gradually increase the dose as it were.

hi mate
1.8 is max i go to but if using addatives like pk 13/14 which u'll use about 3 weeks before harvest i'll gently raise the nutes to around 2.0 in the 3rd or 4th week and when its time to add the additve i'll mix my nutes at 1.8 and add the required dose of the additive and it won't shock your babes
but 1.8 is max i go on normal nutes

all the best jgs

Ahaaaa !! Just the thread I was looking for, I've just switched to hydro (NFT) and wasn't to sure about EC levels. Using Canna Aqua Flores at recomended strength my EC was 2.4 and I did have this vague recollection of 1.8 being a safe max dose so added ph'd plain water and brought it down to 1.2 (decided to play safe as I was totally unsure about my recollection) Pheweee am I glad I erred on the side of caution

yo nitrakam, yeah, you need the water culture nutes...
the only major problem i see is that canna are made for dutch water, very hard, so the buffering tends to be extreme in soft water. most places don't sell canna (or shouldn't sell it) without mentioning it.
i did find this site a while back though:
http://www.canna.com/members/index.php?newlang=englishgo find out about your nutes... and remember there are others out there.
