My 600 light is said to cover 1.2m does the density of its light output change if the area does not have close proximity walls?
I know it increases with a reflective material but what i mean is does it cover that area per lumens it is said to regardless of walls?

it will a bit yes, as the walls reflect light back towards your grow. not a huge amount though. also it'll depend on the quality of your reflector. when you hang your lamp in your reflector you should see a 'footprint' of where the light is most intense, you want this footprint to cover the area as close as possible, any light hitting the floor and bouncing off into space is light wasted

My reflector Is a dutch barn from thehomegrower my area is in 3ftx3ftx8ft high, lamp at 4ft, i am having to keep my closet door open as the temps i had under control using my poor mans system are not really under control and go up and down from 29c to 35c at worst. The door being open keeps it at 29c by day! So do you reckon i would be loosing allot? I t looks to me like the plants are under the footprint!

I have a attic hatch 2/3 open a pc fan blowing just under the light a tumble dryer duct a few inches under that with a pc fan taking warm air out , another pc fan at the bottom with ducting running close to an open window blowing air in and a 6 inch fan aimed at the plants on full! I know its cheap but it did make a bit of a difference!

As long as the end of the lamp is facing the door, all will be well.
Personally I aim to get my lamps down into the canopy. My sativas seem to do very well being side-lit

Thanks

Like mine - with them pointing towards you.
The light comes out the sides.
Those 250s of mine don't throw out much light from the ends - well nothing a reflector extension (or foil) won't deal with.
My grow is only 16 inches - 40cm deep - I wouldn't want to go deeper than 18 inches - can't believe my space used to be 30 inches deep. I've improved things a lot since coming here, but my yield wasn't very different back then ...

Swings and roundabouts.
I grew for years down in the cellar with 3 walls, just a reflective wrap around the plants in effect, usually panda plastic. Exhaust fan above, big oscillating fan at the front, simple enough setup.
Last year I got a grow tent and had mould for the first time ever and it goes to 90%RH down there. Not expert enough to explain why for sure but once I've got the vegging fully light proof I'm tempted to revert to the 'open plan' style setup.
