Hi!

After drying my crop for 2 weeks I jarred it up but it keep sweating up and becoming damp again. So I dried it for a few more days then placed it back in jars.

It is now nicely crispy but when I open the jars it smells a bit off (damp maybe?). When I take buds out and grind them it smells great again and smokes a treat. There is a tiny bit of moisture when I have grinded the biggest buds (far less than any dealer weed). Also when I have removed a bud from a jar and put in a plastic bag (for my lunch break) it smells fantastic by lunchtime, in fact it smells superb within 10 minutes of being in the bag & in my pocket.

Been curing for about 4 weeks and burp jars between 5-20 mins a day.

Just a bit worried about future mold problems, I have never had mold in my curing jars but have had this smell before. Normally I finish my crop quick but this time I am trying to make it last 6+ months.

What you think guys?

The concentrated smell of all the buds in a jar normally is quite bland when you poke your nose in the jar anyway buddy. As you say when you take a few buds out & pop them in your tin or whatever they smell delicious.

I don't think you have a problem buddy. wink1.gif I don't think you are at the stage to jar up & forget, so keep burping those jars daily wink1.gif

If the jars are sweating up then you still have moisture within the plant material. Either that or the seals on the jars are not doing their job.

It is possible you're burping the jars in a damp location and moisture is being absorbed. Burping jars is just as it sounds and to be honest opening the lid, gently shaking the contents and replacing the seal is all you need to do.

In order to stop this happening try to cut the buds down into nuggets when you paper bag them. This will allow all the material to dry properly before going into the jars. Takes a bit more time but you do get more in the jars and you know it's not going to be damp smile.gif

Ahhh! Thats some useful info.

I have read your thread on harvesting and curing many times over the course of my grows but I must admit I have been lazy and left out the paper bag bit. I will not make this mistake again.

After they sweated up I re dried them and they seem ok now but my where Im burping them well may be a bit damp.

Thank you for answering this post and thanks for the pinned harvest/cure thread it has helped me a lot, next time I will follow it 100%.

Damn it, just checked my jars and took a bud and crushed it between my fingers, it was crunchy on out side but sticky on inside, so instead of being crumbly it went a bit chewing gum like.

Problem I think Im having is outbuilding where I grow and has damp air. Cant use tent to dry in as have a few seedlings in there and temps are 25c. No where to safely bag up so I have put in brown paper lined cardboard boxes and stuck near extraction outlet which feels about right temp, obviously not perfect as a lot of air movement in that area but best I can come up with.

Some jars still smelt a bit rank and found couple of tiny white bits on 2 buds, looked like paper that may of somehow got stuck to them or maybe mold (seems bit too early)?

Oh well will see what happens.....
