Threw out a blueberry today as soon as i saw a mite through a friends magnifier. It had spots on the leaves for over a week but couldnt see anything on the underside until today when i got the magnifier.
I wasnt too bothered about throwing it out cause it was easily the weakest plant, was tied up cause of weak stem and of course the spots!
It was in there with about 4 other plants (all in early veg)- there doesnt seem to be any spots on any leaves of the other plants, but what is the general liklihood that these little b**stards have crawled on over to the rest of the crop? is that what usually happens?
I'll obviously keep a close eye on the other plants, and intend to get some sort of spray (not sure which one yet- still trawling the similar threads) to dose them all with. but..... i'm scared.

assume they are all infected and spray with neem oil now and in a weeks time. (sold variously as Neem Repel and Genius Oil)

yep, all of them could be infected,
have a look for sbpi in the shop, one of the best, as is neem oil or derris liquid,
but sbpi is the only one you can use in flower iirc

looked in the online shop here, does SB plant invigorator contain neem oil ? Or would u reccommend neem oil over the SB plant invigorator ?
Dont like thought of having to use SBPI weekly throughout the entire grow to be "fully effective" at killing the mites.
id be fine paying extra for the SMC thats also in the shop but dont like the description where it says ' reports of strange things happening to plants that have been oversprayed'
Thank y'all v much for the replies!

just noticed theyve got the neem repel in the shop too...
anybody know which is more effective between Neem Repel and SBPI? (another long debate/discussion?)
Its a shame its saturday cause i dont think the local grow shop is open on a sunday..... Does B&Q sell any of this stuff?

(soz to add another reply to this- being doing a bit of reading...)
Is scotts bug clear ok to use for spider mites ? Or are the products in the online shop (Greens) more specific to spider mites ?

As to your q about which is more effective, neither are effective unless you treat the plants properly. Both are good and both of the aforementioned products will give your plants some npk I think.
To dose properly, use a pump up sprayer with a wand attachment, spray the under and top side of the foliage until run-off. Repeat every 3-4 days or so until you are sure all the eggs have hatched and no more mites remain.

Edit: Scotts contains Bifenthrin (neem and Sb are organic I think). Should work too but spray as described

thanks sweet leaf.
Ive just looked over pretty much every leaf from all the plants with the magnifier and have identified one more "
host" to the spidermites....the "BK" now sitting next to the bin, away from the tent ! Both these affected plants came from the same person, all the others which i've grown
appear to be fine after a thorough checking, so hopefully they have stuck to the 2 plants they came on.
Ill still proceed with the SBPI and neem oil but i'll have to wait till at least monday.
i
HATE these things, they're horrible! i shit it every time i spot one. (total arachnaphobe!)

word, nice one man cheers!
Doesnt sound as "friendly" as the SB PI and neem oil though.... ? Does SB or neem oil require the use of gloves/mask ?

none of them do really, i have all of them, bought at dif times, and i've never used gloves but the Westland is probably the best.

there seemed to be a bit of confusion on that by the end of that thread... i was boggled. I'm still pretty tempted to go n buy some of the Westland spray 2moro, but it seems its "unsafe" to use if the plants got less than 10-12 weeks to go....

After re-reading that whole thread (r.e westlands spray) i'm still not convinced that its safe.... ?
one of the plants has less than 10 weeks and i'm unsure whether its too late to use.

if your not happy using it dont

go for the Sbpi , im presuming the plants are still small (ish)

so they should be easyer to handle when spraying ,just make sure you spray all the plant
id always use a mask when spraying what ever it is

cheers bart. I'd just like to have it cleared up or confirmed whether its safe or not. Where's all the experts now?!
I have a bottle of the westland spray here, which i just bought from b&Q, and have orderd the SBPI online. Obvioulsy i want the problem under control so im willing to use whatever will do the job. just as long as its safe!! It says on the bottle "do not apply to edible crops" .

bloody hells bells!. another variable to throw in there ! So many people have heavily reccomended totally diffrent things.
Right now im most interested in findng out how "safe" the westlands is, it sounds like it does the job - lots of praise in that thread- people saying they had tried lots of things but had only real succcess with the westlands. I'm going with SBPI too, but i think gona give the veg room a blast with westlands tonight. These little feckers creep me right out, im like a girl. (but hairier, and can smoke more green).

Sprayed last night with Westlands bug + attack and defence to sort out a spider mite problem. On some of the leaves, there is a left over white residue in places, should i wipe this off with a damp cloth or something or just
LEAVE it ? (
