As this years weather has been so shite and who knows what it'll be like next year, I thought a topic on what strains are doing the best in 2008 (flowering time, yield, pest resistance etc) so people can have a better idea on what could work for 2009.
After all the more we know, the better we gow!! Which makes us all

rather than
So with that what strains have you tried and whats working?! Is it monsters like dex's passion#1s or spicyfruits durban poison, a bush like starways church or a restart with good results like marcos, to name but a few.
Also feel free to bitch about plants that didnt live up to the breeders write up. But please be kind, after all it is their livelyhood as well.
This year is my first ever grow and I've tried some mixed indicas from sensi, gotta say most were males (just my luck eh!) but the one female left outa ten is doing good! Also got a magic bud from paradise seeds, doing ok but think the soil was bad with a capital B so doing not as good as I liked! More details towards the crop.
Happy growing, besta luck for the rest of this year and hope this helps!

this is the last year that i was going to use indoor strains, but i am serioualy changing my mind given the weather right now

I think the best bet, is to have 3 strains, an early finisher, a mid finisher and a late finishing indoor.
Although it will make the harvest a lot more complicated, at least i will have spread my bet agianst the weather.
I am considering paying out for guerilla from ACE seeds, but i cant find the predited harvest time for the UK!!!
Have to buy seeds soon tho, christmas approaches !! I want every plant i am putting outside next year growing by january.
Off for a look around the seed shop.

Ducksfoot isn't really one for UK weather, it's from Australia and likes it fairly hot. Sure, next year could be a very hot summer like last year but it could also be a cold, cloudy, shite summer like this year. Guerilla Gold from Spam (the Canadians swear by it) is probably the best of the early strains because it finishes in mid august (some finish as early as end of July, some as late as end of August) and puts on vastly more weight than the true autoflowering strains. I guess you could call it a strain with a very early yet staggered harvest, which is perfect for ensuring that atleast some finish in good weather. But what do I know? I haven't grown anything in years and just come here for nostalgia.

Anyone tried any Hash Plant varieties outside over here? A few of them seem to have good reps regarding anti-mold properties and quick finishing, but I've yet to hear from anyone who's grown it outside on this side of the pond.

Anyone have ANY idea on where to get some guerillas gold seeds? looked for ages and only found out its a cutting from someone called Greens on canada. If there is a seed bank selling it please pm a link!

It's not cutting only, the seeds just aren't advertised. You can get them at Spam. It's not really a seedbank, it's more of a co-operative of small breeders.

Guerilla Greens
*Guerilla Gold#2
Early Gold x (Afghan x Mighty Mite) F5
A short and very early outdoor strain. GG#2 will develop chunky buds that are covered in trichome’s in the heat of the summer. The buds have sweet spice/seasoning smell and deliver a strong, long-lasting and unique high. Harvest end of August.
*Guerilla Gold#5
Early Gold x (Afghan x Mighty Mite) F5
GG#5 is the newest GG line available. An extremely early and potent strain. Stout plants, buds are solid; trichome covered and delivers a heavy, but mind-warping high. The flowers emit a greasy and acidic sweet seasoning smell that is very attractive. Harvest end of August to the first week of September.
*GG#3 x Jam Donut
Taller, larger yielding GG plants with a relaxing and mellow stone. Some of these will branch heavily and produce a significant early yield. It doesn’t quite have the potency of the other GG lines, but it is still quite satisfying and the taste is great. The smells range from sweet spice, to fruity perfume, to jam donuts. Harvest from the end of August to the second week of September.

i am going to go with some basics mata hari , erdbeer crosses , swisses, early purps and pearls crosses and maybe rox next time for a mid sept finish, this year i was on a lazy long ting. Ive read good things and seen some nice pics of n.european breeders strains, for jungle gardenry i think thats the way to go for us dank dwellers of mirkdominia (53n).

I recon next year will involve lots of purps and some GG methinks!! Have read that if you take rox cuttings they develop mould easily but cant find the link again.

Don't forget the 15 free seed mix that you'll have to grow when you buy GG. I'd recommend the Smoke-A-Lot mix as your freebies because the're all early. The Congolese x GG from them is meant to be especially nice and I'm sure the'll be some of those in their free mix.

That's a good idea Pimp, I atcually think the harvest would be easier as it's smaller amounts at once...

I've got my eye on these too, they sound great don't they.
@ Owderb; I'm loving your moderating, I was reading gunnaknows posts and thinking 'Hmm, I've never heard of the breeder 'spam', I must look them up'

It wasn't really spam. It was the name of a seed bank, which is generally allowed. It was different to most other seed banks though, in that it had it's own forum, so Owd was probably right to delete it.
