Hey all, heading off to Germany to work for a few weeks tomorrow morning, we'll be switching flights at Schipol airport so got 3 hours to kill in between flights, it would be rude of me not to check out a coffee shop while I'm there, thats if there is any nearby, anyone know of any?

thanks
leroy

Get train straight from airport only 20 mins as Leroy says.

thanks for the replys

is the train station near the airport?

i'm guessing a cab would be quite expensive....

Train station is in the airport just follow signs, very easy to suss out. Fastest to buy ticket from machine by credit card, or if you get really stuck you can buy from a person in booth (but you sometimes have to wait). Great railway system puts Uk to shame.

I did exactly this when I went to the World Cup in Berlin. I had plenty of time to get the train from the airport, walk into a coffeeshop (I actually walked loads further than I needed to because I went to Sheeba on Waarmoestraat - there's other coffee shops across the road from Centraal Station I believe). Bought weed, had a big spliff, bought stamps, posted the remaining weed outside the train station. Got train back to airport to get my flight with about half an hour to spare. Giggled like fuck whilst reading FHM on the plane at the 'massive plan' that I'd just accomplished! Was just coming down by the time I'd got to Berlin...

head 10min north into Haarlem, and just outside Haarlem trian station you have "Willie Wortel Sativa" or you could go to the smalll but stunning Theehuis Coffeeshop (its cheaper then in the Dam too).

MAP (zoom out a little and you can see just how near the airport it is)

I'd pre-planned the whole thing. I took an empty CD case (I had to borrow a grinder in the coffeeshop to grind it down so a DVD case might have been better in hindsight) with me and a jiffy envelope big enough to put it in (because I didn't want to have to 'shop' for one when I got there) and just planned on buying postage in Amsterdam.

The only problem I had was buying the stamps because I didn't know how much postage I'd need and had to ask the guy in the shop what I needed to buy to get it posted. It was a 'newsagent' type place so he wasn't exactly sure of the required postage amount but it got back to the UK (via Germany I might add because I'd planned to have it whilst there but it took so long) eventually so whether I paid over the odds (I can't remember how much it was, sorry) I don't know.

It was awesome though when it turned up back in the UK. Perhaps one of our Dutch resident members could advise about the required postage cost to the UK...

i would think you could get train from airport to to city center train station within 25 min tops each way and have 5 or so coffee shops with in 3 blocks to choose from. hour travel time hour and a wee bit smoking back on plain sounds like a plain. good luck stank

When you get to Centraal Station head straight for coffeeshop Central, link here, menu here. Cannot recommend Central enough, you'll see commuters in suits and briefcases popping in for a baggie or two to take home for the weekend, as well as lot's of other locals. You get to see the merchandise on offer, just point to what you want and they'll take it off the boards for you. They do 12 and 25 Euro deals and have a great selection. the hash is always cut nice and thinly, so it's perfect for popping in an envelope or jiffy bag. enjoy the trip.
