in the pipeline we have this fascinating ganja sativa from Malawi in equatorial East Africa:
Genetics: Traditional African Ganja Cultivar
Type: Pure Landrace Sativa
Variety: Narrow leaved dwarf ganja cultivar
Height: below 1 metre (approx. 70cm)
Harvest Date: September in Northern Hemisphere
Flowering: 8 weeks
Characteristics: very compact, with long and slender leaves
This is a pure and stable ganja cultivar from Malawi in equatorial East Africa. A highland cultivar, Malawi Mbanje finishes very quickly in around 8 weeks. Plants are remarkably short, at around 70cm in height, and will also perform well indoors. Bud leaves are characteristicly long and slender. Buds are large and resinous with a sweet licorice/anise aroma. The high is a great up sativa buzz, similar to some Thai strains. Well suited to outcrossing with later flowering strains to produce earlier flowering.
sample freebies will be available soon - please don't pm me just yet, I will post here when they are
cf. the old African Seeds Tanzanian Magic if some of the info seems improbable to you
Mbanje and Chamba are the two main terms used in these regions of Africa for ganja

Ah, a Sativa for my Narnia wardrobe, excellent. I really look forward to this one namkha, as will many more I suspect. Us 'drobe growers don't often get a crack at a full on sativa like this.
Plus, it sounds like it yields quite well too.

hey
great to see so much interest in this strain
I plan to put the Highland Malawi and Highland Thai exclusively for sale through The Real Seed Company's website
so they will be available as soon as the site is up --- which means, everything going to plan, before Christmas, depending on how busy and compassionate the Bodhisattvas of Information Technology who are helping us are
hope that's not too long to wait
all best,
Namkha

Any mould resistance to it?

Cant wait for this one , since going into the tent to grow and loosing so much space with a grostar reflector i would love a nice sat plant that is only around 1mtr or so tall.
Nothing worse than trying to train a 6foot + sat in a tent

.
It really is nice to see all these seeds and varities from over there instead of the usual dutch genetics that are floating about , i want to feel the way i used to feel 15-17 years ago when i smoked manali or black goldseal/redseal.
So very awesome for pain and puts you in such a nice frame of mind when smoked my name will be down for some of these 100%

Also fancy some of that sheberghan that looks awesome dam so many strains to buy !!!!!.

As a matter of interest where are the highlands in malawi? cheers
namkha
Nov 11 2008, 06:59 AM
hey - the highlands in Malawi are north toward the border with Tanzania
there are a few other highland areas, like the Zombe plateau, which is also famous for crazy weed
the most famous Malai strains is Malai Gold which comes from round Nkhotakhota
I've never visited myself, so this is all hear say
my guess wouod be that whiole there are definitel regional varieties to do with climate, you will stilll see a lot of variation within each area --- different villages will have a different style, different growers in that village will have a different style
the Malawi Highlands in the north are right on the equator i think --- cf. Tanzanian Magic from the now defunct African Seeds, from very nearby to the MH

I can't wait to get a pack! Have you supplied gypsy and the others with these or will they be only available from your site?
I used to have tanzanian magic beans, but they got lost somehow.

I can't forgive myself. Btw your rooibaards have good germination rates, I'm growing a few of them right now alongside the junglis.

hi
im a novice grower so i dont expect to be picked for the trial grow.
but this sounds an ideal strain for an indoor grow
if u want a novice to test its grow difficulty then im prob yr man. hehehe
well actually im not a complete garden idiot. i have grown my own organic veg and owned chickens in the past.
i have grown heritage (non Hybrid) veg strains from seed, from the Australian Seed Savers Network.
im in a humid coastal area in Latitude 33. plus u might want someone in this time zone and hemisphere.
so i will apply.

i still cant get over this strain, a landrace sativa that finishes in 9weeks plus tiny! namkha your work is somewhat amazing.
cant wait to see who gets the trail, i would love to test, but watching others grow these traditional strains is also a plesure and treat!

Shame I was going to have a go at these. However I hear ACE are doing a Malawi strain for release this year, at least i think so.
namkha
Feb 19 2009, 05:11 PM
yes - ACE have a fearsome racey style Malawi and Afropips has the euphoric, smiley type from Nkhotakhota; and Seedsman has a Malawi line too - I think (don't know for sure) that it is a working of the old African Seeds Malawi (also the Nkhotakhota type I think)

Feb 20 2009, 01:56 AM
Oh dear, I was waiting for you to release the malawi before getting my order in. I guess I'll try the Lao and Kerala instead.
The african seeds malawi is a nice strain to grow indoors, much easier to handle than rooibaard for example. I've had one of the swazis you sent me flowering for quite some time and she's almost as tall as I am, would be taller but she burned her top while stretching.

Good to know it wasn't selling that bad after all. Thai wouldn't be a bad choice either, I'll think about it. I just got the big big nepalese seeds you sent me, thanks a thousand! They're 3x bigger than the kullu jungli seeds.
