Hi there everyone,

Hope you can help me out here, I have 5 Orange Bud ( from Dutch Passion ) at about 5 weeks old, and the biggest is about 1 1/2 foot high, and 5 Misty ( from Nivana ) only 1 month old and very very short, but getting loads of leaves.

I don't have a height problem in my grow room ( its in my loft - so max height is about 6 1/2 feet ) and while I'm in a hurry to taste my own weed for the first time, I'd rather get a better quality crop with more yeild than a poor low yield. Oh aye - I am growing in a soil mix under a 400 HPS ( super shiney reflector... stoned.gif ) with loads of ventilation.

Now since this is my first grow, I'm not to sure when to start the flowering, I've read on these forums that the plant can continue to grow a lot when in flowering so even though I have plenty of room, I don't want to be daft. wink.gif.

I would llike to take clones too, so I can flower them first to check which are male / female, could someone tell me when it's best to do that? Which parts are best to clone from?

Thanks in advance..

hi cali

u can flower at 4/5 weeks depending on your preferences, i normally flower at this time but some peeps wait till the plant is mature

the plants will double if not tiple in size during flower

take the cuttings before u flower and label them so if u do get any males you'll know which ones to bin

all the best jgs

massive growth problems come on hydro, where vegetative growth is phenomenal. from growing on soil, i know that growth past the point of turning the lights back doesn't produce an excess of growth.

clone when they're in the vegetative stage, ideally the week you're turning the lights back. what i like to call the differentiating phase takes two weeks after the plants have been on 12/12 or less and in this period they'll keep growing even though you're on 12/12 and the nutrients are bloom. right at the end of this two weeks you'll start to see buds appear, the tiniest white strands from plant internodes. after this they'll start flowering like good un's so then it's up to you to know how long they take to mature on soil and when and if to add flowering boosters.

so i've presumed in that there that you're growing females, but if you look here or do your own google search:

you'll get enough info with pics to help you sex them yourself.

Just started my 12/12 on my two mangos (nirvana) they are 50 days old and are 1metre high and about half as wide.
whistling.gif They have just shown signs of sex. So I got them on 12/12 right away.
