hey guys an gals, how we all doin? im jus tryin out a new strain from DNA genetics side company reserva privada called purplewreck. its a cross between trainwreck an purple urkle, they r 2weeks into flowering an when i rub the stem a lil a get a nice smell of deisel and its beautiful. i was jus wonderin if ne1has tried this strain b4 as they had it in the grey area coffee shop not long back or maybe even tryin a grow wit it2? ne feed back will b nice, i cant wait2try some proper purple weed neway happy smokin dudes

Homegrown Stumpy? Does every plant actually have the purple trait to it?

Why? Do you think there is something special about "purple"? Only I'm intrigued - a lot of folks seem eager to grow "purple" these days.
Thing is, all the purple I've ever grown has been average, at best - in the potency/taste stakes.
Am I missing something?

i jus wanna grow purple cos its a nice colour weed to smoke an i never really see it much, the only purple shit ive had in the uk was almost black and had a rather perfumed taste, it was nice weed though jus not the best purple bud out there,
so for me its jus i wanna grow an smoke some thing purple as there isnt any about an its jus different bud to smoke,
also it looks quit nice an makes for some good bud shots especially the pinky/bluey types,

Only purple strain i've ever smoked made me want to heave. Pretty sure that was just that weed though

Only joy I can see of growing a purple plant is having purple buds in jars. Has the asthetically pleaseing look about it.

Or, its for selling and you want to charge £35 an eighth by claiming 'you know that song jimmy hendrix wrote called Purple haze, Well this is the ACTUAL weed he made the song about. Thats why im charging you £35 for 2.8grams '

whereas purple urkle is a california clone only strain

trust me look it up it aint like the sort of purple i think ur talkin about

ive got some purple wreck at 2weeks flowering as well

its developing a lot quicker than the other 2 strains in my room

i am getting that nyc diesel smell as well

ive got 2 diff phenos

one is very short i mean it must have stretched 4 inches at the most- i think this is the urkle pheno

the other went crazy afetr i topped it it grew 4 main tops and stretched about 10 inches- i think this is trainwreck pheno

they both smell the same though

I know what you mean about purple weed tasting average especially the prodominately purple stuff. I have to admit that i havnt tried any of the newer crosses but then again most of the new purple strains i have seen dont seem to have a very high % of purple colour which probably explains why they taste ok.

What ever happened to the old purple haze, god i used to love that stuff, the high was so cerebral. Was getting it here a few years back (really expensive though) buds looks absolutely shit like, but the high was fantastic

Novelty factor. I've never seen a purple bud in person, which is enough reason for me to grow some.

I'm more interested in WHY the bud is purple.

Apparently it's due to the presence of certain anthocyanin pigments in the bud that are expressed more than in the bud that you normally see.

It doesn't actually 'mean' anything - I don't see any reason why you couldn't get 'purple' ditchweed that will just give you a nasty headache, in the same way that you can get nasty-looking brown seeded weed that doesn't even look like buds that gets you wrecked just like a train's hit you in the head.

I can see how it'd look nice in a range of curing jars on your shelf but it's not something that I'd personally obsess about and actively chase down unless it was also known for being a really different and/or mind-bending smoke.

In other words, ¿who really cares what it looks like - once it's in your spliff/pipe/vape or whatever, you can't really see it, can you?

DP had a purple pheno in their Mazar which was more perfumey compared to the green pheno which more skunky/acrid.I thought the purple pheno tasted better although both taste kinda shit, but the weed is strong!

They do look pretty though don't they (purple plants)

Currently debating whether or not I should go mental and buy some of DJ Short's 'Old Time Moonshine' beautiful plant, but not cheap.

Anything purple I've tried has been pretty bad aswell though, but that wasn't grown at home.

But you are right, I know nowt about t'Urkle. Californian huh? I doubt I'll be growin' it mind. Just aint my cuppa.

Most of the purple weed i've encountered has been very low in the potency stakes, more like commercial weed than 'skunk'

But...I did have excellent purple weed once and it was unforgettable. Stoned and high at the same time, gazing into space with a massive grin on my face...very memorable stone and an extremely pleasant, exotic taste. Good medicinal value too as i remember (it was a few years ago)

I don't know why but it seems the stuff is hard to grow or it's hard to get good genetics.

I'd certainly like to see more of it around.

Chimera's Mental Floss has a purple pheno (pic attached) and it certainly isn't weak.
Mental floss knocks my balls off everytime, as do all of Chimera's strains. It looks bewtiful too.

I am not at liberty to say where it came from, but it was a clone, and unavailable in seed form AFAIK

I've got some of these purple wrecks on the go too. Can't tell anyone much about them as they're only a few days out the dirt but its going to be interesting to see how potent they are reading this thread. I've grown out quite a bit of the double purple doja that gets raved about and found it ok but not my thing really hoping this will be different.
13 seeds was a good start though well impressed with that.
