Hi all,

Might be going to the 'Dam on Saturday. Anyone got any recommendations for coffee shops, places to eat or exhibitions that are running at the moment?

I heard there was a fireworks festival which got me all excited, but it's in Maastricht i think.

Anyway, i've got down on the list 'To Visit':

Barneys
Homegrown Fantaseeds
Maloe Melo
Grey Area
Greenhouse Effect
Abraxas
Kadinsky
Dampkring

The Heineken Museum is closed, so I'm told. There's a burlesque thing on Saturday which could be fun.

Anymore for anymore?

Cheers,

Keye.

Hi Keye,

Don't worry about the Hieniken museum being closed.....I thought it was just like a brand brainwashing thing.

Good choice of coffeeshops there....particularly Dampkring and Kadinsky.
Dutch Flowers has some good weed, but one of the bar/bud tenders is a total knob and I am reluctant to spend money in there.

If you like Mexican Food, try Los Pilones on Kerkstraat.....fabulous chicken tinga and chicken mole. Proper Mexican food, not the tex-mex shit you usually get.
While your on Kerkstraat, pop in to Dolphins coffeeshop......best Northern Lights I've found, but a tad expensive.

If you fancy a coffeeshop experience right out of 'Mr Ben', then look up Sanementereng Coffeeshop.

Other eateries worth a look:
Breakfast - De Bakkerswinkel on Warmoestraat
Pancake Bakery on Prinsengracht

HTH and have a great trip smile.gif

hi buddy hope you have a good time.

amnesia is worth a visit if your going to grey area anyway its only round the corner thumbsup.gif I had some quality smokes from there too.

katsu - worth it just to try the crystal clear ice hash and there is a market on the street which is fun for a walk around few nice cafes for lunch down there too. (thanks to hardcore toker for putting me onto that one)

cannabis college - friendly bunch loads of good info available in there and one for you keye they have a volcano (as do quite a few coffee shops)

I enjoyed a day/afternoon out in Haarlem too if your there for a few days.

have a good time bro let us know where the best smoke is I am going next month.

Hi Keye,

I would definately recommend taking a look in Central coffeeshop on the Prins Hendrikkade 89 (opposite Amsterdam Central Train Station), last time I was there they had some good stuff at very reasonable prices for the middle of the city.
Also if you like to be able to enjoy a beer with you joint you can still do this in certain bars, these bars will not sell cannabis as they only have an alcohol licence but they are still 'toker friendly'. Not all pubs or bars will allow this, here are a few that I know of
Kashmir Lounge Jan Pieter Heijenstraat 85/87, they have opened the another coffeeshop directly opposite and have converted the original coffeeshop into a pub/bar which is toker friendly and has an alcohol licence.

Lost in Amsterdam Nieuwendijk 19, I really like this place as they low tables, big soft cushions and hookah style pipes with shisha flavoured tobaccos. They also have an alcohol licence and is toker friendly aswell.

Nes Café Nes 33, This place used to be a coffeeshop be traded its cannabis licence for an alcohol one, it is a pool bar that has an alcohol licence and is still toker friendly.

If you want to try out the 'Verdamper vapourizer' then visit Anyday Coffeeshop Korte Kolksteeg 5/Spui Straat , this place has reasonable prices on weed and hash but they also have between 8 and 10 verdampers all set up ready for use.
If you want to try one then just ask the person behind the bar for the socket for the verdamper and he will give it to you and show you how to use it. IMHO the verdamper is the only vapouriser that is in the same league as the volcano and is well worth a try. 'Verdamper' is the Dutch word for vapouriser by the way.
Have a great time over there.

Paradox is a nice place to chill if you like quiet and freindly also had some good malana "jungle" hash i remember the moroccan chocalate being good. Selling veggie burgers before 4 or 5 cant remember. Also if you like charas we stumbled upon Funny People very near central station they were selling 5 grams of afgan for 17.50 euros nice smell taste and stone very cheap and i found this prefereable to most of the weed which was generaly crap to much choice not enough quality. Trefpunt has some ok moroccan hash i wanted to get sputnik but they didnt have any when i went so i got some zero zero and huis polm they were ok not strong though.

I would defo recommend going to China town mate if you want a sit down meal.
Me and the missus had a 3 cousre meal with drinks and came to 50 Euro's.

The tram ticket you need is called a 'strippenkaart' you can get these from tourist board offices and newsagents.

To ask for it in Dutch you say 'Kunnen ik heb en strippenkaart alstublieft', (translated 'can I have a tram ticket please') but you may aswell talk English unless you talk Dutch and you want to talk Dutch that is.
I have found that nearly everyone in Amsterdam has an excellent understanding of the English language.

Would just add.....if you like a decent drink, then it is woth looking up a place called 'In De Wilderman'.
It is an old style brown cafe with a great range of beers cool.gif

It is on a street called Kolksteeg, just off the Neiuwendijk....round the corner from the 420 Cafe.
Keye
Cool, thanks again.

I was going for weed and for a bit of light refreshment beer-wise. I thought about buying some clones over there and mailing them back, get me up and running quickly; but the only places i've found that sell them restrict sales to 100+ trays. Too many for me.

I won't bother buying seeds unless i see a really good deal.

I know the Heineken museum is really just a marketing ploy, but i keep saying i'll go and never do when i'm in the city.

I will let you all know how it goes, should be a good weekend!

Try having a look at this map, Keye, if you haven't already done so.
Keye
Cheers,

That's the map i'm looking at! Cool. I have one of those spring out maps that i'm plotting points of interest on as we won't have time to visit all the coffee shops.

Also - if anyone has a favourite chocolate-dipped-waffle-stand that makes them fresh, let me know.

Erm, also if anyone knows of the greatest ChocoMel milkshakes, that'd be great. I know Abraxas do a good one....

Cheers!!!

Best one of these I know of is on the Albert Cuyp Market.
Same area of town of town as Katsu, a shop that somebody else mentioned.
Katsu is well worth a visit, as well as their crystal clear; they also specialise in 'local crosses' with their Silver Pearl x NL a stand out amongst these.

not been since last may tho.... off back out next month smile.gif

If you like Chocomel you can buy it in Albert Hein supermarket, it is much cheaper than what you will be charged for it in coffeeshops. In Albert Hein they sell it for 1:04 euros for 1 litre, I have found these good for bringing home as long as they have not been opened, as then they would leak. They also sell cans of it aswell as cartons.
Rasta Baby Prins Hendrikkade 6-7 does a very nice hot chocomel, but I would not get weed or hash from there personally.

Tram tickets!?!?! rofl.gif rofl.gif

If you get on the trams without ticket inspectors then trams are free. Many trips to Amsterdam, haven't ever bought train or tram tickets. smile.gif

Agree with what others have said about where's good to go, just to add...

Popeyes is good, they do good breakfasts.
Dolphins is good for chilling.

Heineken experience being closed is no big loss IMHO, I liked the beers on the way round and the glasses you got that said "Heineken Experience Amsterdam" but the rest of it wasn't great.

Take a copy of the Amsterdam coffeeshop map, remember to mark your hotel on there as well lol.gif. IMO most of the fun is in the exploring and going to all the different places. spliff.gif

Went with a few friends in July. Central is good for ya bulk. Big bags of snow white for 25 euros.I got the temple balls which was nice but nothing amazing. The places with the wow factor for us guys where the katsu with their black widow and nlxhaze and beautiful morocan ice hash, grey area with the la con, martian mean green and chocolope and the amnesia with the pink kush and tripple x. The tripple x was ridiculous. Just as strong as the ice hash but with a gooie rich sweet flavour to die for. pinch.gif Shit man, i wanna go back! Its 30 a gram but they'll sought you half grams of that. I went back a good few times for that one an the L.A. Expensive but what the fuck if you don't get out there that much. It bubbles up with ease (as you would expect at those prices) The bluebird was hit n miss we thought. Blue cheese from there was beautiful as was the g13 but bit let down by the alegria after hearing so much good stuff bout that one. Would also recommend cheese from greenhouse an their lemon skunk but didn't think much of the hawian snow which again was a shame cos i was expecting so much. Might ave been the ends of a bad batch but i smoked a gram pure in a bifter n it didn't do to much. We also where well into mellow yellow which i dont think has got a great rep (might be wrong) but the morocan was top grade n its outa the centre a bit with a good local atmosphere, sound people etc. Didn't make it to dampkring but i hear thats usually good. Anyway stick with these n you'll have an amazing time. We all did.
Peace

If ya like the LA Con you should have a look at me diary. Will be cracking the seeds as soon as these are finished flowering (if they ever f'in finish lol.gif)

Probably the best way to get there is to catch a train from Amsterdam central station to Haarlem and then walking there as Haarlem is quite managable on foot. Haarlem is quite safe, I have been there quite a few times and have not encountered any trouble yet.
Clicky Here! for directions.
