ok ive been looking over the net for a decent fan controller and ive seen 2 products which sound and look very similar and theres been so many mixed reviews i was thinking maby people did what i did and mixed them up. so basicly has anyone got a primair from greenhouse and many other sites, or the prima ( Klimavator) from which i saw on growell. they both look very similar and i had to double check they were 2 products like with the 3 nobs and stuff , anyway it would be good to hear who has what and how effective it is. thank you.

Loads of people on here have the Primair, got 2 myself, best money I ever spent and controls temps and intake and extraction perfectly to keep constant temps needed for growing.

Brilliant piece of kit, not heard of the Prima might do the same job.

Edited for link, worth a look.

Hey Whittley,

I use a primair with 100mm AirForce fans on intake and exhaust. I understand that people have issues with the Ruck or RVK and Primair setup due to humming from the fans when they are dialled down. I have even seen someone on here upgrade a primair to an AirForce controller just to get rid of the hum. They reported excellent results.

I obviously have it the other way round - primair controller and acoustic fans - but I can safely say there is zero hum with these fans. They are much more powerful than their RVK/Ruck same-size equivalents, and are seriously quiet. Mine are only 100mm but they are no louder than a pedestal fan. One even sits on top of a wooden box with no vibration issues at all. They are pricey, I guess, but well worth it IMHO if you can afford it..... bought mine from ProGrow.

Hope that helps you avoid any probs,

Z.

Primair & Prima are exactly the same device with the same circuit, same enclosure but a different sticker on the front wink1.gif

I got my Prima from Growell, told them I saw it at 'another' shop for cheaper (you must show them a link so they can check the price), then they matched the price & sent it along with other bits I ordered wink1.gif

It's been working just perfect since installation & no additional hum on my RVK100 & RVK125 biggrin.gif

I also have the manual fan speed adjuster from Growell, that also does not cause any additional hum with my RVK100 on my clone tent wink1.gif

The extra hum some get from their RVK's when using certain speed controllers is down to their mains installation in the property. Basically, if your mains is wired with loads of multi-plugs connected, spurs tapping off & coils of cables hanging around there will be a magnetic inductance that will increse humming in magnetic motors, it appears even louder when the air noise/flow is reduced. I'm sure Electric man or another electrician will confirm this.

Even so though, any humming is normally amplified by the fan being hard bolted to a structure, then everything hums loud. Do as many others have done on here & hang your fans on bungies to reduce the transmitted humming. Also, acoustic ducting works very well to reduce the air flow noise.

If you can justify the budget then buy an acoustic fan wink1.gif

Most importantly of all - KEEP YOUR WIRING SAFE & NEAT & AWAY FROM WATER.

I have a primeair running a 150 and a 125 fan my 1st set up but I am happy with it lets me control the speed and would be way too moisey without it. I dont really have a problem with humming and I get my fans down to a reasonable level and sleep in same room.

My main noise now is definitly airflow.
