I went pike fishing on Sunday with a mate who has an inflatable boat on the Ouse, he told me that a few weeks ago everyone caught a pike but sadly we drew a blank.

I suspect it is due to the warm weather that our lures didn't work and I just thought if dead baiting would work or if anyone has any good ideas as to how we can make our next trip more productive?

On a hot day if you can cover lots of ground with your lures then you should put some fish on the bank, spoons and ondexes work well on the ouse at this time of year.

If you plan to stay in one spot, float fishing deadbaits at mid depth or 18inches overdepth cant be beaten.

I would target weirpools and their run offs, as well as areas where sidestreams enter the main river.

Failing that, I would pack the inflatable with plenty of cider, plenty of booders and just merrily float down stream.

Go steady.

Thanks guys I liked the idea of a booze cruise but I am not enjoying cider these days cos it gives me heartburn but Kronenbourg 1664 will do just as well rofl.gif
