ive just taken about 10 cuttings from a dieselryder thats in flower (i know this is probably frowned upon but i seem to have a lot of success taking cuttings when a plant is in bloom ,dont know why but i just do ) and was just wondering if anyone had had any success taking cuttings from any autoflowering varieties ...be it lowryders 1 or 2 ..or any of the other crosses made with autos ...i thought id give it a whirl ,taken 11 in total from the lower air bud branches into a mix of 30%perlite,30%vermiculite and 40% coir based compost ..placed under 125watts of cfls ,mixed spectrum blue through to red ...all in a little propagator and gently watered in ...whats the verdict am i pissing into the wind on this one dya think ?...also ive just put a male ice plant in with the left over autos in the hope of producing some seeds ..just in case the gov does ban the sales of them ...if i let nature take its course with these do you think ill get some viable seeds ,not bothered if they carry the auto flowering trait at all just want some seeds for next year that would produce resinous plants ...all advice is greatfully accepted whether you think im a knob for trying or not ..at least ill know one way or tuther

Gonna watch with interest!
Only problem I can see is that your clones will not re-veg so they wont get any bigger, and will only produce the buds that they would have produced anyway!(if they root!)
The benefit (I suppose) being that you can seperate the plants to polinate!
Have to wait and see!, Keep us posted!

good on you for trying anyway. i saw a grow diary on here, where someone was growing in their chimney and they took a cutting off a lr2 and it rooted, so maybe you will get a few! hope so keep us posted

I don't want to piss on your campfire pal but you cannot re-veg auto flowering strains, as potstinkus said- they wont get any bigger and will just continue to flower.
ud have to change ur light time to 12/12 so the male flowers which might slow the lowrider right down if there in the same room? not sure what would happen as the auto flower works best under 18hrs i think? be a good experiment though

the jester is correct ....
you may well be able to clone it ( think its been done all ready ) but it would not get any bigger and tbh is a waste of time

you cant clone auto flowering strains , once they start to flower at a certain age thats it, they stay in flower, i doubt it will even root

If its just seeds your after , i would have just collected some pollen and applied to the lower branches without removing them,
myself and other people i know have never had any luck trying to take cuts from lr's, at very best you will just end up with whatever you planted size wise that is, having said that i never tried with dieselryders ,
Btw dont tell any landrace lovers what your doing or they,ll stone you
but if it makes you happy...
goodluck with your experiment anyway

i already seeded some of the other lower branches of one the dieselryder ...the whole reason ive done the cutting thing is because these plants were advertised as only growing 14-18" but they went to 4ft so i thought these particular plants may have reverted back to their parental pheno ...either way i`ll find out if it works or not ..its no extra work for me and its fascinating to see for myself the outcome ,but thanks for the advise people and i fully understand that autos cant be cloned etc .who knows though there could be one auto out there that can

This is a cut I took from a Canadian strain called Mighty Mite.
It isn't listed as being an autoflower but it started budding after
about 5 weeks under 18/6.
It took about 2 weeks to root, then threw out single leaves for about
2 more weeks and then went right back into budding.
It's a shit smoke so I killed it.

update ..i took 11 cuttings and placed them in my grow box ....they will not revert back to veg state as was pointed out by a poster in this thread ..kudos to you sir ..but they have rooted and are still flowering ..not very fast but they are still producing white hairs ..
a pointless exercise i know

i did this with a few of my autos(ak and nyd) and it worked eventually but it was touch and go, i stuck to normal
protocol but with angle hands and i noticed they took way, way longer to take root and come out of shock

and i dont mean to step on any ones toes here, and not saying any ones wrong but some of the cutting i did are seaming to grow in veg for the time being, but these where from, (educated guessing) , one mother i used that grow much taller than its buddies and with a abnormally chunky stem. hope this helps
