That's *not* as 'hot as the sun' - many, many times less. lol.gif

Anyway, that's the *internal* temp of the plasma inside the lights - HID lamps probably aren't that far off in that respect. wink1.gif

I received this email from the distributors some time ago but missed it in my inbox:

"Dear XXXXX

Thank you for your email and interest in our plasma light.

Unfortunately the lights are only being made available to a handful of research and development projects at the moment. We do not expect to make them commercially available until the third quarter of next year at the earliest, sorry.

Please keep an eye on our site for updates.

Kind regards
Doug"

Watch this space for 2010 then. If this does work as well as some people suggest it might it will be great for threading light pipes through the inside of the undergrowth and spreading the light distribution.

6000K is the 'colour temperature' and has nothing to do with heat. that value tells you what colour the light is. for example you can have 4000K (cool white) or 2700K (warm white) CFL lamps. and you know that none of them heats up to that value.
the lower the value is, the more red light you get. the higher the value is (speaking for white), the coulour has more blue spectrum. this 6000K would be good for vege, but in flowering you would need some more red spectrum.
