Well yeah, you still have until mid August until most strains will start to flower so that's a good 5-6 weeks of vegging! .Get them seeds cracking mate, it will be interesting to see what you could pull off with a late late grow.

gonna grab some Durban today if the rain ever stops! I will keep you posted to see how it goes mate

cheers

good luck m8 hop it goes well 4 ya

dude, do you have the setup required to veg 'em a bit? glasshouse, ecolight??

if not you wont be big enough in time for the slowdown, especially if the weather stays like this.

either way, you get super ready for next season, make sure your site is sweet.

good luck

You have raised an interesting point here mate. I can borrow a friends lights to give the plants a few set of leaves before the big outdoor sunbathe. Here is the problem. Plants cracked and vegged indoors tend to be a less resiliant to the elements once planted out. In my experience, sticking a fan on them does not do enough in time.... I might veg half the seeds under lights and leave the rest to the elements.

Problem is I didnt get to the seed shop because of the disgusting amount of rain we had today. this is a bad omen.....

not even got the beanz yet, hmmm. i'd honestly say save your money but get total readyness for next years bumper harvest.

this rain is an omen. go lowriders or get ready for next year.

True, you have to crack the seeds, that can be 3 days, then another day before they pop their heads over the soil, then you'll need to veg & stabilise them indoors for a couple of weeks at least before putting them out .. man, you'll be pushing it but good luck if you do go for it!

id say its not worth it, if anything lowryders are possible,

and if u did do another strain and it did get to an alright size, it still might have issues flowering properly, because some strains just wont flower when they're not mature enough, but heck who am i to tell u to not plant this year,

prove me wrong sir !

go for it but you gotta give em their start indoors mate .. all my outdoor plants were started indoors and they all are doing fine .. u will probably end up with 4/5 week veg if you crak em today .. if you put em out 2/3 weks after they crak i reckon you will get summit weather permitting yinyang.gif

yeh sure

why not put them in late , after all they will be way stelth.

you wont get the return of someone planting in may but you will get a return.

good luck. spliff.gif spliff.gif

You're spot on Starway excl.gif you just racked my brain (whats left of it!) Femaleseeds.nl state you must veg their strains for at least 8 weeks before you get a stable flowering so Auto's are the only way really for this guy I reckon.

There is a very short vegging period so things might not work out. But..... if I am actually bothered to get the seeds and plant them this late in the year, then we will all have future reference for late starts in years to come. I already have 2 lowriders sewn, cracked and growing in my garden soil and they are doing well. I also cracked 4 more Diesel Lows 3 days ago so they are going into the ground next Monday so that’s all covered.

Here is a another scenario. I am going on holiday every summer to Marmaris in Turkey and will be off there at the end of the month. Been doing a bit of research about the photoperiod there and found out that 12/12 does not arrive there until September 8th so they have 4-5 weeks of vegging under 66.8° sun angle and an average temperature of 36 degrees C. I know a few very secluded islands only accessible by boat which I can put into use for my return there in October cool.gif
It is a bit of a long shot but I am thinking of populating the local hills with Durban Poison-keep both males and females together so cross pollination can occur resulting in one heck of a holiday resort for years to come smoke.gif

It will be like The Beach!! So i was thinking if I am going to crack a few Durban seeds here and take the rest over to try and test new things. Horticulture is soo much fun!

Any suggestions? Any problems I may face?

The 12/12 rule does not apply to growing outside. Although it is strain dependent most outside plants in the UK will start flowering by the end of this month when the daylight period is around 15 1/2 hours.

12/12 is only used as an optimum light period for indoor flowering. If we were to apply 12/12 to outside grows as the trigger point for flowering then we would not hit that photoperiod until the later part of September. In that case they would never finish before Winter is upon us.

Even if your seeds hit the dirt tomorrow they would not even get past the seedling stage before attempting to flower hence very little yield for your trouble or money. i have never grown autos so I can't comment.

Your problem with planting in Turkey would be the lack of rain plus the fact that you will not be there to water them during the months of August and September. You only have to look at the local vegetation in that part of the world during those months to see how desperately it clings onto life.

Sorry, I don't want to sound pessimistic but time has run out. I would concentrate on your plot for next year. Dig it over in the autumn and put some well rotted manure or compost into the plot and cover it if you can. By spring you will have an excellent medium to grow your plants in.
