is white paint REALLY better at reflecting light than foil? i just don't see how... but i know foil causes "hot spots" but does the paint actually reflect more? would any of you guys use white paint in a GR if you didn't have the money for mylar? thanks
cheers,

My GR is painted Matt White mate - you'd be surprised how bright it is when ya open that door
Upgrading to Mylar soon though, cos that stuff really is ---->

If you can't run to the expense of Mylar then I would suggest rolls polystyrene wall insulation. You'll get it in any wallpaper shop or DIY store. It costs about £2.50 -£3 a roll.
I looks dull but according to the stats it's the next best thing to Mylar in terms of reflective properties, far better than paint or foil. I used it until very recently and haven't noticed any drastic improvement since changing to Mylar.

i used a stapel gun(i was in a rush,
but this isn't good enough,as it gets pulled about,
i'm gonna re-do mine,so i'd be interested what others say...
i was gonna spread silicone on the wall......is there a better way??????

Hi folks,
Got this from a book;
Reflective Qualities.
Foylon 94-95%
Mylar 90-95%
Matt white paint 85-93%
Vinyl silk white paint 75-80%
Matt yellow paint 70-80%
Tinfoil 70-75%
Hope this helps.

thx payday... i have cardboard walls and i covered them with 2 cans of spray paint.. it is semi-gloss white enamel and the difference between the foil is very noticeable.
