So I am being careful to avoid overwatering & feeding my plants and they're looking pretty good.
They're in an allmix/vermiculite mix and when I feed them I saturate the pots completely & leave to drain.
Then I wait until they're pretty much dry - about 4-5 days at present and then water/feed again.
So this is what it says to do in the knowledgebase. But, it would seem to me to be better for the plant that rather than have such extremes of moisture to have a more 'optimum' level all the time.
So maybe water half of what I do at present every 2 days say? Never totally saturating nor allowing to get too dry? What do you reckon?
You maybe risking getting dry spots by not sticking with the saturation to dry method mate.
By saturating your medium your keeping the fine feeder roots from dying off. 908

Yeah, stick with the flood & drain method. My lot were watered about every 4 days in veg and are currently watered about every 3 days in flower.
Constantly soggy compost can be an excellent breeding ground for all kinds of bad guys ... you could end up with root rot. Also, roots need oxygen to grow well ... the f&d gets rid of any bad gasses in the root ball and drags in fresh air as the compost dries out.
That's my understanding from the eleventy six billion threads I've read here!

Click to view attachmentA healthy soil profile. If the soil is kept watterlooged, the percentage of soil pore spaces with oxygen will decrease, leading to anearobic conditions. Keep with the wet/dry cycle i rekon.

although technically its called the 'wet/dry' cycle ... flood & drain is a hydroponic method.
