Full Version: Which Canna?

Was looking at the Canna website and their product description left me a little confused. Aqua Canna seems to be for Aeroponics: No substrate. Hydro Canna seems to be for run-to-waste while growing in a substrate. I'm using Hydroton/ GenHydro Water Farm which I turbo-charged with a pump and tubes which keeps all the concentrations the same in every container. The stuff gets pumped to each container and returns to the reservoir through the drain tubes. The nutrient is changed every week or so. I'm assuming this is called "recirculating" as opposed to "run-to-waste. So long story short... which should I be using?
Thank you for your time.

The CANNA Aqua range of products has been specifically developed for the use in combination closed hydroponic systems, like NFT or Bubbler systems. With these systems the drainage water isn’t removed but is reused.

Hi! I use Canna totally.

Which you choose depends primarily on the water you are using. I use tap water (left to stand to let the chlorine evaporate), and my water is hard, so Canna Substra is my choice. My system is a Wilma which recirculates water.

You need also:
Rhizotonic (fantastic for vegging)
Cannazym (similar to Rhizo for use during flowering)
Boost (flowering...superb accelerator)
PK 13/14

If you use an RO machine I think Aqua is what you want.
They have a new product called Canna Flush. I have bought a bottle and will use it in a couple of weeks time so I will let you know if it's worth using.

Hope this helps a little cool.gif

I have to agree with GrowBuddy that your water quality is important if chosing canna nutes.
I know the coco is supposed to be a 'universal forumlation'.....but I've had problems with it with certain water supplies. I don't know if the other ranges are 'universal formulas'.

I also have problems with RO water and find you are chasing defficiencies throughout the grow when using it.
I saw a post about using Formulex at a very low EC and then adding the nutes to combat this.

I also found that in recirculating systems the canna nutes were quite unstable. The pH is constantly rising......especially if the water was hard.

Personally, for recirc systems and in areas of hard water I would go with Vitalink nutes.

i would go for canna hydro or even aqua they both should work
hydro nutes hard or soft depends on your water quality say ph over 7.5 i would go for hard water nutes and if ya use ro or ph below 7.5 you would want soft water nutes
Mr.Greengenes
Ph rising? Well you know what? I think that is a good thing! It indicates that the plants are taking the nutes.

RO water can be tricky. I have heard that many people mix it with tap water to make it easier to use. RO is great for purity but it does take out some 'friendly' bacteria too.

Fresh Air Inspector....Canna have just released 'Flush.' Not exactly RO in a bottle, but interesting. I bought some and I will try it in a couple of weeks.
