I'm a big fan of LEDs. Especially given the power saving options of switching on/off many times a second. I'm not interested in proving LED's can grow the plant, people like david_zap, medved, led-exp have proven this beyond all reasonable doubt (to me) already. But it seems to me LED growing is fraught with problems and is still in its infancy. What i'm looking at is the idea of a combination of lights to maximise the available light in a small grow.. a combination of LED, HPS, MH - small HID bulbs <120w in total. Just using the LEDs to balance out a full spectrum and provide some extra light perhaps under and around a scrog canopy.. i'm thinking about 1w x 100ish or 3w x40ish high power LEDs...
You guys think it'd work? got any advice for me? it seems all the other LED people do LED solely and i want to see what it can do in combination with a reduced wattage of HID - say 120w HID + 100x1w LED, creating a power drain of about 180-200w rather than say a 250-300w HID array on its own..
