Hi guys,

ive got a problem, ive got a small tv cabinet growroom with a 150W hps bulb (makes a lot of heat man, serious!) and a 4 inch hydor extraction fan, the inlet fan is a 5 inch running on 12 volts, but i have just screwed it on top of the existing vent, but the vent is about 2 inches wide and 10 inches tall,

if you want to see it click the link in my sig,

temps are getting pretty high (average of 31 degrees celcius) and was wondering what can i do to keep the temps down,

at the moment im freezing water in plastic containers and putting them into there, just to maintain around 30 degrees, if i dont put the ice into there, it goes up to 33-36 degrees.

Please help, ive bought all this crap and now the heat is too much for the plants as the leaves are starting to curl downwards.

With a 4" extractor i think you must need more intake is the 12v fan a pc fan or something like it if so add another intake and see how ya go m8 biggrin.gif

yeah its a pc fan, them things are loud though,

i also have a spare 4 inch pc fan that im using internally as a circulartory fan, i had that hooked up aswell but it made no difference.

is there any other possibilitys other than having two 12volt PC fans?

you need the incoming air to be cooler, either put your cabinet in a cooler room or pump cooler air into your cabinet. I have used a window before and also an attic as my house is heated but my attic and outside are definitley cooler at night when I have my lights on.

You need more airflow. I can't see a proper extraction fan in the pics, do you mean a PC fan? Because that just isn't going to cut it with a HPS.

i have a proper one in there but i havent had a spare moment to take some pics. will do it tomorrow, i found a quick fix solution anyway, some carboard by the inlet fan to aim the gust of wind towards the plants, now i can keep temp at around 28 degrees celcius, is that about right?

cheers guys

where are you taking your temp readings m8?

drill a whole bunch of holes in the bottom, had same prb with my old cab, worked it out inthe end half the intake air was being pulled from the already hot exaust.
if you got problems now (assuming your in uk) your in for a world of hurt once summer arrives

Hi try putting some flex 4inch tubeing from your exstracter fan to the top of your reflecter.drill lots of small holes in the top of reflecter in a 4 inch circle or put the tube next to the bulb.
