Hi folks, feeling pretty pissed off as I've just found out that I have 6 males in total. What is even worse is the fact that one has already started polinating (white powder released)

I have 2 females though, I know they will end up with seeds but will I still get bud from these 2 females or are they just good for seeds now?

Also should I make hash from the male plants, I really hate seeing them go to waste and although they won't be a great high surely it'll be better than nothing. I also have a reasonable amount of decent weed I could use to make it, what do you think? Mix them both together and make some hash?

Mate I feel for you I have had I fem out of 5 the last two grows! There is nowt worse
but all will sort itself out in time - I got 4 out of 5 fems this time

Worst part is, I didn't mean to breed them. It just sorta happened before i knew which sex the plants where and when it happened it was obvious that these where definetly male.



Hmmm, that's interesting because I've read quite a few threads via google that suggest that the male plants produce some THC (not a lot mind)

I thought perhaps that some of the males mixed in with some decent weed might make a reasonable hash???

Bottom line is this, I have a small amount of weed to do me until these 2 females are ready, these 2 females are not going to last me until the next harvest is ready.

I figure making an ok quality hash would be better than smoking soapbar (which I do not want to do EVER again)

Why did you leave the males in there for so long? Looks like them balls have been growing for some time

Checkout TILT's thread in harvesting and processing, he regulary turns male plants into hash or butter and he even has photo's and a step by step guide of exactly how to achieve it. Tilt swears that the hash or butter he gets from males is a very good

you might have caught them early enough to stop huge amounts of seeds, if you pollenate early in the flowering cycle the seeds you do get are buried in the centers & still plenty of bud on them

I'm a newbie and this was my first grow, I also thought they may have been buds.

It's a crappy situation not having enought smoke to last until next harvest but if I can make some OK hash from a mixture of male plant + decent weed then I'll be pretty pleased with that.



Cheers mate, really good to know that. I'm gonna remove them from the growroom this weekend, only a few seeds have polinated so fingers crossed that I still get a reasonable amount of bud from the 2 female plants.

learn how to identify male from female's,whitch u should do by now now & get rid of the male's at first sight.
it's quite easy to identify as soon as u see a plant producing little white hairs you know thats a femmale if the other plants dont do the same & have little clusters of bulbs or sacks then get rid asap.
the male shows it's sex first,so if a plant is producing little white hair's & any other aint get rid of them dont leave it to long.
plus male plants will grow taller than female,to get higher than the female to release their pollen over them.

I should have started looking for males and females at around 21 days. All those male sacks grew incredibly fast, within about 7 days. Thing is I know what to expect now and it won't happen again.

I have bubbled 6 males, probably about 100g dry, all I ended up with was some sludgy shit that was definitely not hash, better than soap but not hash

Sadly my options are limited, in about 30 days I'll have 2 plants finished and they won't last a month.

I'd be quite happy to smoke something better than soap for a month rather than nothing at all

drgthumb did you use all of the male plant or just the leaves?

Everything except stems and stalks

Do not knock your self for not knowing every thing, there is a life time of knowledge to learn and I don't care who you are we all make mistakes at some point, especially when you first start out, but it's valuable lesson learnt and you wont make the same mistake again.

Hi Doc,

According to TILT it is best to add the product to water and butter then mix it all together and slowly bring to the boil. I think you have to add the butter because water does not boil hot enough to brake down the trich's. Then make space cakes with the butter or use in cooking a lot of people say it is very, very strong eating it rather than smoking it, but I have only tried it in coffee and it knocked 4 of us out for 4 hours and when we woke no one could remember even feeling tired.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I definitely won't make that mistake again that's for sure. It's just a pity that so many of them are males, on the plus side I do have a 9th seed that got plants a few weeks later so fingers crossed that's a female

I think I might pass on making it into butter, I never really enjoyed being stoned for a few hours and not being "in control" if you know what I mean. I prefer joints because I can have a smoke and be fine an hour later
