just a few questions i would like to ask the expert growers & growdrobe makers on this brilliant forum.
i've got an old cupbard i want to turn into a growdrobe.
the dimentions are (not to sure how u lay theses figures out),
in width its 17inc/43cm.
in lenth its 31inc/80cm.
in height its 29inc/74cm.
first question is how do i make it reflextive,i would love to do it like established1976 has done his.
but in stead of what looks like hard work i was thinking of just painting it white, now my question is what kind of paint do i use for best reflextion & what dont give of any harmful odurs or what eva that might harm my seedlings & cuttings once i start using it.
second question after reading many threads on this forum i'm not to sure but does the intake of air have to be greater than the out take or the opposite way round,or does it matter if the in & out are the same.
& where would be the best place to position the in & out take,i'm thinking in at the bottom centred & out at top back.
i'm only going to use 4x 20watt=80 watt cfl bulbs that give 1200 lums, this should be all right just to start seedlings or cutting off should'nt it ?
any reply will be greatly received.

You won't go wrong painting it with white matt emulsion. You can always upgrade it later if you feel the need.

Those 80 watts of CFLs will be fine to get them going, but you'll need a lot more to light that size space effectively - maybe 14 of them.

Intake at the bottom, extraction at the top. What do you have planned fan-wise, and what about odour control.

White matt paint is the best for reflection out of all paints I think. not sure about the harmful odurs tho, just give it time to dry and breath and it should be fine I think.

You want the outtake faster than your intake to create a negative pressure in your grow room ,this way you wont get air escaping from the room but only through your designated air outlet. if you have a passive air intake make it at least 5 times bigger than your air out size.

Have the air in a the bottom to pull in cool air and have the air out at the top to remove the hot air.

Should be ok I think for small seedlings.

Hi mate,

A white matt paint will do the trick, just make sure its completely dry so there are no residual smells or toxins.

Out take needs to be greater than intake slightly to give you negative pressure, this stops any smells leaking out.

Position of intakes and outakes are down to you but outake at the top somewhere (heat rises) and intake at the opposite side on the bottom will give you the best air flow within your drobe.

right i'm off to get a can of white matt emulsion i think.
(emulsion or paint?)
just gonna use old computer fans for in & out take,1 for in take & two for out take.
& on out take i'll run some ducting to bedroom window.
i will upgrade the lights as i go along as i want to get a few varietys of bonsai mothers living in there.
whilst i'm here on the in take dont people use any kind of filtering to filter out any bugs or the like,i've not seen any 1 mention this.
& thanks to every one who replyed.
