Right i have 6 hollands hope really young plants (3 weeks old) and they look really sick (they are not a bad colour pretty dark green) but the leaves seem to be curling downwards on a couple of the plants the lower leaves have turned brown see pics and the leaves are really crinkled. growth is also slow

i started them in cotton wool until the tap root showed and put them straight into peat pellets after a couple of days they showed themselves and all was going ok (under a twin 58 watt linear fluro) just after showing there first leaves the lights accidentally got turned off for two days (plants are in loft and was not able to visit them for these days) bearing in mind i do check on them once a day now.

after this situation the lights were put straight back on and the seemed ok but worse became worse as i could only get an exhaust and inlet fan in about a week and a half after they were born so the first week or so there was no fresh air! after there roots showed through the peat bags i popped them into 10 cm pots hoping all would be ok!

i used some pre-mixed bat shit soil in there new pots but since then matters went from even worse to crap as one of the plants has fallen (propped it up) and temps are low!(around an average of 15 degrees) i cant use a heater in there as parents eleccy bill so thats a no go but i was thinking of a couple of general household bulbs which get really hot and hanging them in there so temps get warmer (alongside the fluros)

i really need some help as to what the prob is as i am watering fine (waiting till soil is dry etc. every 3-4 days)

here is some pics of my ill plants

They look cooked, but the first two may have more than one problem.. I say that because of the yellow veins in the pic.. The only time I see plants look like this is if they are thirsty, but I don't think that's the case here... Someone will be along shortly and nail it spot on...

I would add another floro instead of a regular bulb.. You'll get extra heat off the ballast and more light, but I'm still not sure what the prob is with your sprouts... The bat poo maybe it in combination with 15c.. But if your having to prop one of them up it could be problems down stairs (the roots).. Did you buy that mixed soil fresh?

Yeah in my limited experiance all a young plant needs is good soil and water. Its only when they start to get big and flower that you should give em nutes...

Dont know what to recommend part from get em into some normal soil...

cheers for the replys guys, i thought this could be one of the probs i have 20 more seeds on their way (some durban p and purple number 1 ) i am going to get some seedling mix and start off with smaller pots to eliminate this soil issue. but i have grown before with this bat shit stuff straight from the peat bags and the plants were fine 34.gif

yeah i plan to ad two more of those twin 58 watt fluros especially for when i get the other seeds arrive as they will need em! yea i am gonna re pot into normal soil in a bit! i might just add a normal house bulb too because the are pretty hot when up to temp! as even the warm white furos are pretty cool

cheers again guys

Too hot and poor airflow, you may also be overwatering IMO. wink.gif

dude if it is too hot in there i will eat my own hat. airflow is prob the reason why its too coldas it is in loft but dont want to suffocate the ladies and cant be over-watering as i wait till they are as good as almost dry then re water till a tiny trickle through the hole . cheers for your help tho peeps wink1.gif
beard
have you sprayed anything on the leaves?
potsmoker93
Im wondering if a fan is to close to the plants causing the leaves to dry out, or intake of cold air is to close to plants, or even directed at them?
