Well my plants are about 7 weeks old now from seed. Im very confused about the whole flowering and preflowering deal. I planned to put all 5 of my plants into flower and then bin the males. But I started reading about preflowers. Is this just where the bud growth has started, or is this a sign that shows the sex whilst the plants are still in veg?
Cheers everyone =)

Yep - depending on genetics they should have shown by now.
This grow I was able to chuck out the males by 6 weeks and let the females fill out for 2 weeks before going 12/12.

Do I look on the nodes? What am I looking for? I have got a microscope with 60x-100x zoom, is that suitable?

Check this in the knowledge base.

Cheers for the link.
Is it always the fourth node I should check.
Also, On this picture, is it A or B that is the male part?
Once again everyone sorry for asking questions that you all must have heard a million times before. I did have a quick search but was going through page after page of useless info (well not useless, but not the info I needed)

Hi mate,
going by the link from g-love and the thumbnail you attached your looking at the "ball & cock" of a male there!!!
Much of a newbie myself and only just got my first baby raising its head; I'll probably be in the same situation as you 7 weeks down the line???
Goodluck!!!!

The spikey bit labelled A is called a stipule (both male and females have those) and as bart said B is a male preflower.

Thats exactly what I needed mate. Thanks.
Cheers for everyone else's advice too.Very Very Helpful. I wish I could take photo's as detailed as the ones shown. Were they taken with a camera or a microscope with a camera in it?

YOU TO can take piucs like that mate.. I use me phone cam and bluetack a cheap 3 quid ebay x30 magnifiying glass to it and i can get some nice closeups.. (Wait till next week and see my bud pics just before i chop)
Just have a experiment.. I used a cheap led torch for the blueish pic on my grow diary below.

the one i posted was taken with camera with a "macro" setting
a lot of cameras have macro and sometimes super macro settings for closeup pics
