Hi all,
I wonder that one lamp is enough for vegging and flowering?
I have a 400w masterson T-PIA plus (HPS)
Do you think thats enough for both vegg.and flowering. or I should buy an extra lamp for 4-5 plants?

thanks you for any advise

It's less about plants and more about area and yield.
400 watts should produce 250 grammes fairly easily.

---------------------------

That lamp is good for maybe 0.9 metre by 0.6 metres - maybe a bit more.

Anything up to 6 average plants would fit in there nicely (though some people would grow 1 and others would grow 24 ...

If you topped or bent the plants and vegged them for longer you could make enough growth for two lamps.

hi comp.
it is hard to understand you man. sorry but what you mean here ''If you topped or bent the plants and vegged them for longer you could make enough growth for two lamps.

I wanted to ask that , in veg, I need blue and in fllower I need red spec. can this lamp do both perfecyly?

I've never used anything other than "red" in 12 years. I'm currently using the cheapest and reddest HPS lamps available ;-)

I'm sure oldtimer1 will have done side by side comparisons of lamps, but I really wouldn't worry.

Your lamp is a "red" (flowering) lamp.

Hi Tayyer,
i've got the same lamp mate thumbsup.gif , although i use it for flowering as i've got a seperate Metal Halide for veg, i'd imagine it'll do you fine for veg and flowering, i used a HPS for veg + flowering last 2 grows which worked out good yinyang.gif

I just found the spectral chart for it - looks like it has a tad more blue than my shitty GE lamps - which can't be a bad thing.

Hi Tayyer,
do you have an extra oscilating fan?, if you do then just point the fan at the light, should help push the hot air away from the canopy and bring down the tempreture at light height yinyang.gif

hi Bazz
yes, I have a fan which is regular home fan, may be I should take it closer to the lamp. these days Turkey is hot for a winter (18C outside) thats why HPS increases the Heat that much, because in the cold days room's heat was 28C with (HPS) in a few weeks ago.
the other thing is, the distance from light is 18inch (44cm), and maybe I should keep the distance 24inc(61cm) and that helps me too, because I dont wanna fry my fem.babies. OR maybe I should use 60watt CFL for a few weeks until my little plants get bigger and stronger

Hi Tayyer,
yeah if you can get an oscilating fan or a clip-on fan close to the light that'll definately help, this is what i do as well although you have to be careful not to push the hot air from the light onto the plants, if possible try and push the hot air either upwards or place the fan behind the light and push it towards the opening of the grow room, how old are your plants at the moment?, peace, Baz yinyang.gif
