first off has anyone streamed media from PC > PS3 using WMP11??

i think i have followed every guide and suggestion online with no luck whatsoever.

Have enables services like SSDIP Universal Plug and Play Device Host WMP media sharng and so on as many places suggest.

Installed WMP 11 as suggested

The PS3 is connected wirelessly to the homehub can access the net no problem the PC is wired to the hub also no net problems.

The PC wont see the playstation under WMP11 and the Ps3 wont find media player 11 under media servers.

The annoying part though is, it will find tversity as a media server and also Azureus but both report DNLA server eorrors when trying access them

Any ideas anyone? lol.gif

WMP11 for life of me wont find the "unkown device" its meant to eg the ps3 and tversity just seems to suck lol.gif

ohh btw running on XP could aso be a one reasons it sucks

You could try streaming using VLC Player - that has comprehensive streaming facilities. thumbsup.gif

e2a: Try the 'Wizard' function first.

DGT, I got a ps3 too. What other things can ya do with em (apart from what u trying to do atm)?
I know the latest official update allows more video media like divvx etc to be played which is cool. Vlc is decent quality and plays pretty much everything, hope ya get it set up as Scribble described.

Am just tryin use it as a media server for my telly, so can watch my downloaded 1080p content the way its meant to be seen wih no fannying around between machines.

The games look cool, got pro evo 8 with it and well its enjoyable enough, bit to easy to score and i keep gettin matches abandonded vs rangers as i get to many sent off lol.gif

Downloaded a few demos from playstation strore they seem cool and few movie trailers as well as general web surfing.

Used my USB card reader with it to transfer few divx movies to it while sort this wifi streaming out, it plays em superb upscalin even seems do good with video files, just make sure u enable wma playback if u send em file types over

Only had it 24hrs seems nice bit of gear though, lookin foward buyin few blu-ray films

No luck so far with VLC it plays all yeah on my PC lol.gif always has just cant get PS3 to find it as a media server either, think vista might make things easier with WMP11 get around to that later maybe. So far its not a hassle it also takes the Mp4 player i have via the usb so easy to get stuff on it.

Just like to be able access more from wifi if work it out will update the thread lol.gif

Sorry Dr i did't read your first post right.
Is the error your geting dnla 501 thats the one i was geting then i right clicked on the folder i wanted to share and clicked share with tversity. Seems to work a bit better for me as it see most of the files on my pc but not them all.

Drop me a pm if yo would like to add me on psn for some friendly old firm action on pro evo. wink.gif

Edit: I'm also using xp

try holding the power button for 5 seconds or so until it beeps, this will reset the display output and may just get it sorted

failing that get on the phone to sony, they should sort you a new one.
uk ps3 was only released march 2007 so it'll still be covered under sony's 12 month warranty, just wink.gif
