Hi peps,

If you look in the picture in the top left & Right hand corners you will see the clip-on fans that i am talking about, B&Q last summer £6 wink.gif
In order to maximise space in my tent i have two of these eached clipped to the back two corners of the grow room on the tublar frame of the tent support/skeleton. The problem is that i feeel them resonating at certain points of my house so i am worried about neighbours unsure.gif I have tried to place rubber mats underneath the two back corners of the tent but still i'm getting that awful resonance again. The fans are cheap and do have cheap rubbeg grips on the clips, but! i do reckon it could be tackled there? anyways! any of you DIY guys have any bright ideas on how i could tackle this problem bar binning the fans cry.gif If that is the recommendation can someone lead me by the nose to a quality unit that is approx the same size!?

Thanks as always!

hang them instead wink.gif
Pots
Stretch a bungee across tent and hang fans on that!.. rofl.gif

Hi TB,

I have thought about hanging them from bungee but! where in the corner of thr tent is there to hang these from? sorry! TB if i appear an ass? because i am when it comes to practical things!

Cheers wolfdog, if i'd waited 5mins you answered my question as i was asking it!? Telly-Pathetic isn't that? rofl.gif

i dont use tents mate
but i would hang them from the top of the framework
i've just used garden twine on some of mine
just wound it round the fan and round a hook at the top
CookiE
id think youd be first bloke ever busted for a 15 watt fan vibration rofl.gif

anyways dont mind me 13.gif ive had 4 on before in a box, place some thin sponge or cloth round the bit of frame your gonna clip to

I'm off to B&Q tomorrow for some Bungee and i was thinking as the corners of tent are square all i woul have to do is put a bar across the the edges to make a triangle so hang bungee from that in such a way that its not in contact with the tent! Is that a good idea or should i do a bungee from below as well pulling down as the other side is pulling up?

TightBud
just do it as you say with the bar

i use inner tubes instead of bungees for my larger fans

I use zip ties and zip the tie to the cord rather than the fan, one problem you may find with having fans in the corner is should the rvks hit full power the tent sucks in and can move the 6 inch fans slightly.

I use several zip ties attaching them to the plug cord near the fan and zip tie it to the poles of the corner of the tent so to speak, iv also in the past used a bambo cain proped up with zip ties and clipped the fan to the cain in corner. The former works pretty well, you may even be able to zip tie the fan cover to the poles for extra support if the zip[ ties are long enough.

Also done the same with primair, zip tied the plug cord right near the primair to the poles so it sits nicely at waste level.

I had the same problem mate, I sorted it out by cutting up some spongy plastic that was an exercise mat. I wrapped it around the pole and then clipped the fan on, the insulation made a big difference.

Hi potsmoker!

excuse my ignorance, but! what are ZIP ties? are they those plastic strips that you pull together and they lock? I'll ask them at B&Q tomorrow, i must stress that space is an issue as i want them as close to the corners as possible and easily(Well 10mins work) adjusted up or down and im not the most practical guy in the world but! i do love having a go! ph34r.gif

Hi kronk,

you've got me thinking along the TB and Cookie lines, I like practical easy solutions! cool.gif I have a old car mat from a saab lying around here somewhere ands its lumpy old rubber so it could do the job, but! Kronk are you saying it significantly improved the resonating or did it eliminate it? If it did'nt eliminate it then i think i will go with bungees unsure.gif

Yes matey, they zip and lock tight, with mine if you do not lock them two tight they will slide up and down the pole, make sure you get some that are long enough to do the job, hell of a game otherwise trying to force the issue.

Took me a couple of mins to sort it, depending on what light you got you could also hang them from the light pointing down, done that before, could also possibly use yoyo's and clip the fans to a couple of them.

With my supanova you have vents either end so clipping to light pointing down is not a problem, yoyo's might work have not tried that, or shoe laces tied..

Hi BTFPM

it certainly reduces the vibration but there is still resonance, if it is vital to your piece of mind (I appreciate what a major factor piece of mind is ph34r.gif ) then go with the bungees mate.

Good luck

another alternative to bungess is vacum cleaner/washing machine fan belts.....

I'd be inclined to try using just one of them, and perhaps putting that on a timer and only running it occasionally. In our first drobe, rather smaller than your tent, we didn't need extra fans to stir the air at all, the PC fan on our intake stirred it enough.
G-Whizz!
Use as many as you can, you can never have too much airflow wink1.gif

Think wind tunnel, not gentle breeze smile.gif

I think this was a big factor in my low yeild last grow, retified now, got two floor standing jobbies and six pc 6 inch fans for 24 mommies lol.gif.

Hi fellas thanks for all the advice, I have been to B&Q and got some cable-ties! Is this what Potsmoker refers to as Zip Ties? Sorry! but! i work behind a desk for a living but! i love to tinker with things in a go-go-gadget kinda way cool.gif So! Items purchased...

Chain hooks £1.08
Cable ties £2.98
bungee 5m £5.65

Now i have illustrated the way i think i should do it below any advice welcome!? yinyang.gif

The red in the diagram represents the cable ties, the blue the hooks and the yellow tyhe bungee. My thinking is to have it anchored in the bottom of the tent as well as the top so that the fan is both being pulled and pushed by the bungees, my crude illustration is below any improvements welcome! wink.gif

yeh, u need to hang them.

I have the same fans, they are little loud buggers! After removing the clip on bit, there is a nice hole to use to hang them, I used cable ties like chains, and it is now very silent indeed... Even on turbo!
