Full Version: Strains That Can Take The Heat

I've had my fair share of problems over my first two grows; my latest problems started when I tried to grow Nirvana White Rhino, and some make of Cali Orange. Both of these strains found my drobe too hot! But I can't get the temps down below 30. I also had thai haze X skunk in there, and they were fine, however a soon as I switched the flowering the Rhino's started dropping loads of leaves. The cali orange leaves started getting crisp and crunchy almost immediately, despite the plants being quite far away from the light.

So I'm wondering if there are any more plants that don't mind a bit of heat? I'm thinking Mandala might be worth a go here?

I'm just looking for a strong Indica that won't wilt, any ideas guys?

e2a: I will confess that I don't have a fan to 'stir the air' yet, but am getting one, and don't think it would make any real difference to the overall temps.

Your leaf loss doesnt sound as if its because of heat.

I've had loft grows hit 40c and still brought home the canna bacon, got a bit frayed at the edges but still ok.

You say it was 30c,but you've an rvk 125 which should really have coped with dealing with the heat from a 400hps,certainly at this time of year but in summer 30c is not uncommon.

Was your temp sensor shaded and not in line of sight of the lights?

Would cold do it? They were on 12/12 right through December. At the minute I'm revegging, I ended up with very little bud as I went 12/12 from seed anyway, due to the xmas rush.

Yep.

My first grow went fine, but the weed was very, very weak. Just some crap bag-seed.

Could you describe these crispy leaves or do you have any pics?

How did this crispiness appear, where on the plant?

Was it odd fan leaves over the plant rather than at the top or bottom?

What were your night time temps?

As if very cold can cause nute lockout and yes, then you will get crispy or damaged leaves.

As Doc says, 30 degree's won't wipe out your plants, I quite often run at 30 or just over at this time of year as I run too many lights!!

What have you got that regulates the temps when your lights are off?

The crispyness could be due to extreme low night time temps, can wipe a plant out within a couple of days!
