yes, check my sigs, the rhino/satin were grown outdoors and the papaya indoors, all of them were topped, and all the topped ones were topped.

topping completly removes the main growing tip, ie NO main cola will be grown what so ever, just side branches.

i thinking pruning is a bit different, but i dont really know - because pruning to me, u dont cut the main tip off completly, you cut a bit off to encourage multiple main growing tips,

but dont quote me on that smile.gif

In a nut shell....For every growing tip you remove, the next two growing tips will shoot.. Doubling the bud sites

whats the best time to start topping your plants
windowsilllowryder?
think ive read on here many times that after the 5th node its then mature enough to handle being topped

my mate done it at about 5 weeks veg from seed and his little beauties are nice and bushy

no, that's a technique known as fimming.

sorry to disagree with you all but afaik topping gives you more grow sites but the overall yield is smaller. pruning is generally taken to be removing lower limbs that aren't getting enough light to be useful. if done early enough this will increase useful yield since the energy that was going to the smaller buds is now available to the rest of the plant but done when well into flower will slow the plant down for a couple of days and the net result would be a small loss of final weight of bud.

fim is generally accepted as an abbreviation for "fuck i missed". when taking out a bud site, only the top 2 thirds or so are lifted off, usually with a thumb nail and the bit of growth left on the plant grows multiple bud sites. it's a bit hit or miss but an interesting experiment.

I have only ever grown in the back yard, with great results - however I do find that toping increases yeild two fold. In any case mate im smashed and wanted to sound abit clever, you get more yes stoned.gif stoned.gif stoned.gif spliff.gif spliff.gif
