aye i love fishing mate, though i aint been for some time.

best fishing trip ever was when me my dad and a few of his mates went up to ullapool for a week we hired a static caravan on some farmers land and hiked round loads of lochs up there.

The wild brownies up there give an amazing fight, i caught one that was only about a pound and a half but it fought like a 5 pound rainbow!!

however we usually go stockie bashing at the lochs local to me, springwater is one of my favourites and not too far from here, other ones we go to are moffat, and new mills trout and deer farm, i love going there, the venison burgers are out of this world!! and theres a piccy of me up on the hall of fame wall, when i was a wee fella only about 9 year old with a 6 lb rainbow.

You binned them? WTF? sad.gif

Intestinal worms in fish are not something to worry about mate, & are in no way harmful due to consumption!

Brownies often have intestinal worms mate. No idea why, but the trout seem to live with them.

A fresh Brownie pan fried, with a wedge of fresh bread & butter - lush! smile.gif

Don't bin 'em, put them back LIVE next time wink1.gif

i've not been out for about a year, but theres always at least one fresh local caught rainbow in the freezer, my mum's partner is the president of 2 of the local clubs so is up at the loch or river at least 5 times a week. most times he fishes catch and release, but if ever i have the fancy for it he'll keep a couple for me.

i like it slow roasted in the oven in tinfoil with some butter and thyme inside.

nothing better!!

If your fishing in scottish rivers for brown trout, a small bloody butcher fly is one of the best flies to use... little silver bodied with red and a little black feathers.... its the only fly I use when river fishing! and ive got about 250 flies so there you go

Cheers Moreoutdoor - mite take a wee wand next time i'm wormin', jst 2 see if i can get intae it. Ma luv of worm fishin runs deep tho!!

loch awe is my favorite hotspot.....
i held the record for the biggest bank caught pike......36lb4oz...for 4 years only to be beaten by a 40 pounder 2 years ago....caught in the same swim I'm sure its the same fish!!!!!!the night i caught mine i had about 12 other fish....started with a 9lb,er and got progressively bigger as the night went on...for bait i use whole brown trout up to a pound in weight caught from the meig or the river connan....both provide bait size fish in abundance...
