Hi all, I'm new to the forums(great place btw, lots of information). I'm currently planning a growroom and am torn between putting in a 6 pod IWS or using a single amazon aeroponic system. The rest of the setup will be a 600w HPS, a 100mm fan for intake, a 150mm fan for venting and a few standard fans for airflow.

My current worry atm is how much noise this lot is going to create. The kit will be going in some type of grow tent(proly about 1.2 X 1.2) and this will be in my spare room which is next to the bedroom I sleep in. I live in an apartment block but only really need to worry about the apartment downstairs as they are quite large and my spare room only contacts the apartment downstairs. The main problem is going to be the ball and chain as shes only half onboard with the growing idea anyway and if when we come to bed down it sounds like theres a jet engine in the next room shes gonna have a few words to say unsure.gif Now I know what you're all thinking, but generally speaking I do wear the trousers round here but with this one I do risk getting slapped around like the family pig so I do need to watch my step a bit.

So can anyone who has any experience of either of these systems give me some info regarding how much noise they kick out and also how good they have found the systems to be would be mucho appreciated, the results of that may well sway my opinion about which one to go for. Cheers cool.gif

Hey,

I've got the same problem as you about noise. My missus always complains about noise. If you get yourself accoustic ducting you won't have a problem with noise from your fans. As for the systems, I don't know what the IWS is like but I do have a amazon. It doesn't make that much noise but when the pumps are on the water tricles off the top of the chamber to the bottom and it sounds like 10 water taps dripping through out the night. I can't change it now until the grow is finished. So she'll have to put up with it.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, I'm just wondering whether the sound of the dripping could be heard through the growtent (which admittedly proly isn't that sound proof), across the spare room(10ft roughly) and through the wall(don't know technical term but the standard thin style interior wall...studboard comes to mind).

How close is your system to where you sleep and can you hear it there?

Hello there,

I've seen both systems in action. And the Amazon is most definitely quieter!

It might be because the tray on your amazon is slightly not on properly, if so will sound loudish, cannot here mine and it is in the room next to me, also if the amazon tank is half empty it is louder than when it is full.

Used both systems and agree, amazon is quite, cannot here it hardly at all, infact cannot hear anything unless im in the same room, even then it is quite, fans are louder to be honest.

Cheers guys, I ended up getting the amazon and agree with whats been said already. Very quiet unit and can't hear it at all unless you're in the same room and even then its not particularly loud cool.gif
