I bought a DR120 grow tent yesterday and thought I would try putting it up tonight to see how easy it was so I fit the bottom bars together and made sure they were as far into the holders as they would go but I cannot get the bottom bit of material to fit over the base. It looks like the base material has been made slightly too small to be able to fit. I have forced it quite a bit but I cannot get it to go on for the life of me. I was going to take it back tomorrow to see if the shop would either show me how to fit it on or swap it for another one.
Has anyone else put one of these things together that can give me some advice?
Thanks in advance
Jim

i have a bud box and i found building the complete frame then lying it down and just forcing it on worked, but it was tighter than a nuns c**t to put on.

Relax and take a toke before you get all stressed and start trying to force things - then:
<Deep Breath>
żAre you sure that you've put the base bars together properly, in the right manner? - then check again that they're all in properly - stuff like that.
żIt's not one of those cheapy Chinese Chum Wa copys is it, AFAIKT? It'd be pretty unusual, I would have thought, if the bottom piece really was too small to fit over the frame bars.

lie it down, put 1 side against the wall, use the wall as a support to push against to get the cover over it

I will give it another go and post in a bit.

Tried putting it against the wall and forcing it but the stitching started to rip. What a nightmare. When I bought the tent I ended up paying a bit more because they said it was a heavier duty model than the standard DR120 but it does not seem very heavy duty. I just checked the box and it was made in China and the box says "Secret Jardin Darkroom DR120" I thought it was strange because the dimensions on the box say 1250mmx310mmx120mm (which is obviously wrong). I have bought a lot of stuff from my local growshop and they have always been friendly and helpful so hopefully they will be ok about swapping it.
Hopefully I will be trying again with a new tent tomorrow.

I hae 2 of these, and you can not really get them wrong, put the bottom in first by un zipping all the zips and pulling it from one side to the other. when the base is in then start pulling the top over. Then put the 2 X bars on the roof when its up otherwise they just keep hitting you on the head
Be carefull these are good tents, however the plastic corners are brittle and break easy and the zips are not the strongest, apart from that there the best.
I would not change it for another, if you see the hydrogarden tent and the bud box then you will be happy, as well as it being lined with a material maylar.

Hi!
I had same problem when building my tent then figured out it was to go inside as a removable inner lining to deal with water spills....
it could be this?????
Just dont force anything in!!!!
I was told mine was a budbox but when it arrived it was a secret jardin...damn fleebay!!! But it has done the job nicely!!

after the tent was up i was honestly stood there scratching my head thinking ' i must of missed something' i couldnt believe how easy it was

to put the tent up i had to completely unzip it all the way round, then get the bottom on, then i got inside the square (stood on the bottom of the material just put on) and started lifting/pulling the material over whilst at the same time my wife was helping on the outside, by helping to push the material over the top of the frame while i was pulling, lifting and gettin the material in place,
you really need 2 people to do it though, i can see it could be a pain to do it on your own
just shout if your still stuck

I was trying to put the bottom on but it really does seem as if the material bit that is supposed to go onto the bottom is too small. There are two main bits to the tent. The big bit of material that is obviously the main tent and another piece that just fits on the bottom and it has velcro bits on it that I assume will be used to join the bottom material to the main tent.
I took it back to the shop this morning and tried to explain to the guy and he said it would definitely fit and I must be doing something wrong. I told him that it would rip if I forced it any more and he said that he would not be able to do anything if I ripped it. I was not even stoned when I tried to put it together and I spend about 20 minutes labelling each type of pole before I started so I wouldn't get it wrong so it really annoyed me when he said that. I told him that I put it against the wall and stuff and then he said that it should just fit into place without any force and it should go up easily. I told he he was welcome to try if he liked and he said he wouldn't because it could take all day (2 minutes before he said it should go up easily).
He told me that he was just a Saturday boy and was not allowed to give replacements or refunds for such large amounts (tent was over £100) but I could come back on Monday and speak to the boss who would hopefully replace it.
This is turning into a bit of a nightmare.

A few peeps have already mentioned trying to fit the inner splash guard over the bottom of the frame. I did it first time as well, scratched my head then came 2 my senses. The main bulk of the tent includes the bottom. The smaller piece of material goes inside the tent.

the way i did it was
i built the base square and the roof square first, then i added the poles in between and got the basic frame up
then i unzipped the whole thing, checked which way up the material was, and lifted the frame at the bottom so i could slide the bottom of the tent material under, then we lifted the bottom part of the frame on the opposite side and pulled the material towards untill we was able to get it over the corners
then we neatened the base out and made sure it was all straight etc
once that was in then i just got inside and with help from outside the tent we pulled it straight over, made sure everything looked sweet then zipped it all up and that was it, job done
one thing i will say though is, to put one of these up with ease you need 2 people and alot of space as its no good trying to put one up if you cant move around properly

na that second small bit goes inside once its put up mate

Can I just clarify that on the DR120 then bottom bit of material that you are supposed to put on first goes over the frame and not inside it. If the main tent goes right over the frame from the bottom and the other bit can be put inside as a drip tray style thing then it may work but if the bottom is supposed to fit over the frame than there is no way it is going to fit.
I feel a right idiot not being able to do this but on the very basic instructions it looks like the bottom of the tent (smaller bit of material) goes over the bottom of the frame.
Thanks

Just read your post after I posted mine and all I can say is FUCK !!!. No wonder it wont fit. So I put the main tent over the frame first and then put the small bit inside and use the velcro to attach it to the main tent. Is that right.

I am going to try it again later and put the smaller bit on the inside. If I don't post later than you can assume that it has gone wrong and I have smashed up my laptop in frustration.

Can anyone post a pic of how they have set up the light, fan and filter in the tent? I know you have to suspend it from the nars at the top but wanted to see how people had done it.

Hi guys i was in a hydro shop today and they had a darkroom dr60 on display and i must say i was very disappointed in it the material was very thin
I was going to buy a dr100 or dr120 but after checking the dr60 its put me right off them.
There was a homebox next to it on display and the material was twice as thick as the dr60 with all these fakes floating about i just dont know can someone tellme how thick a darkroom dr100/120 should be ??

you guys!
I struggled with that thing too.. Struggled for hours on end.. then decided fuck it, so what i did (el lazio) i laid out double layered flatpacked cardboard boxes to form a subtle solid floor inside the tent.. then i put the mat over it, from the inside, as opposed to wrapping it around the whole tent, since i put the full material on right after the poles was built... It fits nicely inside, however it wont go around the poles its more-so just sitting there, where its supposed to be, with a fake floor trapped underneath

.. lazy or what :$
