I have Vista on my pc and i use internet explorer 7. So im surfing around on the net and this happens about every 5 to 10 minutes or sometimes it can not happen for an hour or so. A box will come up explaining there is a problem of some sort an then another comes up sayin "connecting through wan miniport XXX" < thats not exact by the way tongue.gif. and if i just leave it to get on with it nothing happens so everytime i have to close the 2 boxes and then another one comes up saying internet expliorer is set to offline so i just click the button that says connect and it works fine again.

i rang NTL and some guy came out but he was completely useless and just looked at my pc and said "nahh i cant do ewt mate" and i could tell he didnt have a clue what i was talking about. Anyone think of what the problem may be?

It's an AOL service that was probably installed on the PC by the OEM who built it.

You should be able to get rid of it by going to 'Network Connections' and deleting the 'Broadband Connections' icon.

You should also sack Internet Exploder 7 off, and get a decent web browser like Firefox. thumbsup.gif

when i go to network connection it just shows "XXX's PC" and when i double click that it just shows my printer and i cant find anything to do with AOL on my program files.
it just happened again and it says "connecting through Wan miniport PPPOE" and the box that comes up before that is titled "dial up connection".
and another box has just come up which says something about error 805 or sumet unsure.gif

You'll have to go into the 'Network Connections' part and disable/uninstall the Wan miniport PPPOE device or protocol - you don't need it as you are, presumably, connected to the 'net either through a direct Ethernet connection or maybe a USB modem.

Sorry I can't be more specific, as I don't 'do' Vi$ta. (Don't really do Window$ any more, but I still remember enough to get by, most of the time wink1.gif)
