Just got me grubby lil mits on a Japanese DS & have an adapter plug similar to this...

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/part...TRAVEL+PLUG.htm

Is this likely to fry my DS or would I need a proper step down converter?

Cheers.

In Japan, the electrical power supply to households is at 100 V, and the adapter you linked to is just to change the plug shape, not the voltage, so no - you will fry the DS (or at least the power supply) if you try and use that. wink1.gif

Sorry 'bout the double post, żbut couldn't you just buy a replacement UK Nintendo DS mains adapter, and use that on it? unsure.gif

But wouldn't that just be putting 220volts straight in the DS?

Did phone up a games shop and ask, and they said I could just use a UK adaptor but they didn't sound too sure.

Just I've been running an American PSP of that adaptor thingy and its still going, but maybe I've just been lucky.

As you may have guessed I haven't got a bloody clue, hence my post here

If you look at the info plate on the DS, I think you'll find that it doesn't take 230V (or even 100V for the Japanese veresion) but, in fact, requires 5.2V which is provided by the mains adapter.

So this means that a UK one will convert 230V to 5.2V DC, which is what you need. thumbsup.gif

Do you know what??? That makes perfect sense.

On the Jap Power adaptor it says:

Input: AC100V 50/60HZ, 8VA
Output: DC5.2V 460mA

Also has Input listed as AC120V, 60hz 4w, further down on the power pack.

Many thanks, will invest in one tommorow, along with Brain Training and that newish Super Mario Bros.
