Hi K420er's,

i currently have a room that measures about 3.2m width by 2.2m length by 2.5m high Im Using a flood and drain system to grow a few plants. everything has been addressed/food/ventilation/temps/res temps ect you know the rest probably the only thing that isnt spot on is the RH which stays at 60% but thats a minor and i have had no problems at all with it being at that value constantly.

Heres my problem im growing in a block of flats in a spare room and am in close proxy to my naibours, sounds from the fans on a controller are starting to be an issue, basically i have to have the fans turned right down as to not cause any noise pollution which is basically choking the plants.

So i have two choices, only one in my opinion:
1. use co2
2. Buy acoustic fans with all the other stuff that they need like acoustic ducting silencers (home made where possible)

I chosen to go with co2 enrichment as it is simply 2x cheaper than buying acoustic fans with ducting silencers new speed controllers if airforce products ect. I wanted to get a Co2 burner and do things right the first time instead of always getting bottled co2. Propane seems to be the cheaper long term solution especially as i dont drive so will be reliant on others for transport of the heavy co2 canisters allot of work and hassle as apposed to propane.

What i need to know is 1. what type of controller will i need to run the co2 burner as i would like it to be on for 3hours at the required value (depending on heat levels) then off for 30mins or so while my turned down fans come on and vent my room.

2. Will i have any problems with smell while the fans are off? the only window in the room will be blocked off air tight and the main door to the room will be hidding another fake door to make things airtight.

3. Also is there any special electrical requirements for the co2 burner should it be treated as a light with the amperage pull ect.

On a side note i have already tried boxing off my fans in the packaging they came in with those foam things, airforce gear is just to expensive in the sizes i need it in and plus ive already got two good working fans now. Thank you for the help.

What fans do you have working just now, make and model. How are they installed. Got a CF? Give us more details and the noise source could be minimised. Give a good descripton and approximate lengths of the ducting at intake and discharge ends of the fans. Describe what your controller is doing.

Brad420: Fans will be turned on at the same low value (1/4 power) that they come on at in the day all through the night till lights on again where they will go back on 30mins every 3h.

daviie: Fans are as follows vortice 250 for outake with carbon filter attached noise with this fan comes from the fan itself buzzing due to the fan speed controller being a primair one that doesn't step down the voltage current. Intake is a vortice 125 noise is coming from the fan as well but its not really that bad with this one.

Both fans have air noise as im using the standard cheap ducting 3.5-4m worth on the intake (vortice125) and about 4.5m on the outtake (vortice250) and both fans are boxed up so to speak and ducting is just on incoming side for intake and exiting side for outtake.

Adding or using co2 will have its obvious bonus's and to be honest if the air is rich in it and temps are controlled venting isnt even needed thats how the Americans grow in sealed rooms. the plants need o2 at night but it can be a trickle at best so my fans on constantly for that part at 1/4 strength should suffice unless told otherwise!

The unis controller sounds cheap and might suffice ive only seen it used with normal bottled co2 not burners so ill have to probably try and get some technical data on it, the pro evolution controller from ecotechnics is so over priced although it has come down a touch now £220
