Got another packet of seeds free through the post, this time it is Durban Skunk x 20 seeds, wondering if these are worth the effort growing knowing they are freebies, most often freebies from what iv had in the past tend to be shit strains half of which never germinate so thought i would ask?

So Gypsy's still giving away those dud seeds ?

Probably quite decent genetics if you have the room and can get one or two to sprout.

No idea, these came from seedman unless that is Gypsy, last time i got some freebies was from DP, none germinated out of the 15 free I got, thoose were lowryder 2 and mystery seeds, waiting three weeks for them, no germination using the paper towel so binned them.

Nothing to do with the way I germinated them, all the other strains iv done with this method are 100% success rate.

Any any rate could paper towel the twenty and if any do sprout whack them in me prop assuming they are a decent strain to smoke, it also says perferred method outside rather than indoor growing, hmmmm!!

I always try to germ freebies for every seed order I receive. And it's always decent, if not great crosses or strains. I wouldn't worry about that.

I'd worry more of the viability of the seeds. Every freebie I get, only get 1-3 plants per 10. I germed 10 Durban Skunks and got 2 plants. Try them out and hope for the best. Worst case scenario, you get no sprouts. Best case, you get sticky buds.

Im throwing the rest of mine away because they are more hassle than they are worth....
but the one I have now looks a bit shit compared to my blueberry but has such a great smell I think I will grow durban poison some time.

Sounds like they're just old seeds, which of course you will get decreased germ rates. But who cares, they're free!

Ok i be pee'd off if i paid good money for them and only a couple germed.

Might aswell try them, plus is a very nice strain :] and free, even if one or two only germinate, you got 1 or 2 free plants :]

hi my mate's got 1 of these at 5 weeks in flower, coming along nicely i'll try an post a pic asap!
only 3 germed 2 males by the way.

Well after germinating all of them, was about 50 not 20, probably more than 50, any rate none sprouted using the paper towel method, left for over 7 days, threw the lot in the bin, must of been old seeds, shame perked me up when they came.

Bloody good job they didn't germinate would of only had room for about 40 max as I have 36 growing at present, still would of been nice, never mind didn't cost me nothing.

heres a pic of a gypsy durban skunk (sk1) freebie.
she was topped goin into 12/12 coz she wasnt looking pretty at the time,abit tall and scroney.
but since she's stayed short and bushy, with small hard nugs.
looks totaly different from the sk1s next to her!
hairs are turning brown much faster to.

Its got to be worth trying
