first of all let me say thank ya'll for being constant source of bud porn for me for the past two months , and i've decided to take a real whack at it. So apologize for the noobness in advance:)
Stoned at the moment so writing this is kind of difficult but yeah here goes. Well last year i tried to grow various bag seeds outdoors. All of which died because the cold was to intense for them to survive. I had germinated them mid-way through june and let them kept them indoors untill i can transplant and move outside. Starting out with the light schedule, with about 3-4 of daylight, to 8 hours, to 12 hours daylight till they could be last. About a month in they it was on a good day 90-95 degrees, and at night it would be about 35-50 yet they all were stunted and ended up dying. This was more or less a half ass attempt, and this year i plan on have a successful harvest if possible. With the space i have available im looking to plant at least 5 seeds. I was hoping you guys could help me select a proper strain for my climate, i know Lowryder2 is a very versatile plant, where cold is not a factor. Also concealing. Live in IL, about an hour out from chicago. So if anybody has had any successes in a similar climate as mine, or could give their two sense it would be appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time:0

Global warming definetly ain't bullshit, even crazier last week it was 62 degrees, and tommorow it' suspposed to be 4. That is seriously fucked in january for chicago. Specially near the lake like me it should be never above 40 this time of year

Forget about bagseed, get some proper genetics. Your region is pretty mild, although that area is quite windy. With the wind, you'll probably want to prune your plants to form bushes rather than tall trees. Unless you use an autoflowering strain, which will remain short naturally. I don't recommend autoflowering strains as your main crop, they just make a nice early crop before the main crop comes in. Unless you want to breed your own seeds and scatter hundreds of autoflowers, that is. If you just want 5 female plants outside, go for something more heavy yielding that finishes flowering in september. With your mild temperatures, you can choose pretty much any outdoor strain that you like.

Have you thought about growing them in pots. Leave em out alll day and bring em in at night (I assume that you're growing in your garden). That way you'll avoid the cold

Now see that seems like a good idea, but i kind of only have permission to grow if it's outdoors. The others that i i live with, would not put up with the smell. So aside from me building a cab to store them in overnight with a carbon filter/exhaust is there any other method i could use to keep them indoors for the bitter cold nights without it having to reak up the house.

A large, cold frame or small greenhouse. A cold frame is much lower than a greenhouse and you don't enter it. To make up for the lack of height, you can prune the plants so that they become dense, wide bushes.

Pick something that is smooth and sweet not just for potency.....
