I'm thinking of growing again after a year and I've been wondering about using enviros aswell as the 400W HPS I've always used. Does anybody know the kind of results I could get by using enviros to veg with and then switching to HPS for flowering? When I used the HPS I had it on 18/6 so I was thinking that the enviros could be left on 24.
So all things being equal, can you get the same kind of vegative growth with enviros even if it takes longer or do ya reckon it's best to stick with the HPS all the way through? I tend to just grow one biggun'. This is one I grew a while back using the 400W Grolux.

Can an enviro produce something like this if an HPS is used during flowering? I know all about HPS and HID but nothing about these fangled enviros. I'd be greatfull for some advice.

Stick with the HPS.

Start with the enviro for 2 weeks, then use both till the end.

If your only growing one, you could hang the enviro vertically a couple of inches from the main cola

You can well do the early vegging with Enviros, but best to do the later veg period, for bulk before flowering with the HID, IMHO.

Start with the enviro for 2 weeks,

Yep - I forgot about that ... though I get slightly faster growth with a 250 watt HPS than my DIY enviro ...

I think that's OK with 250's like you run, c_v, but I think that for those with 400W and above HID systems that Enviros/CFLs can represent a good, energy-saving way of starting the plants of through their early stages, before getting the big guns out.

OK thanx chaps.I may do as Scribble suggested especially as having a 400W hanging over the seedlings always seemed a bit like over-kill.
I always hang the HPS vertically and slightly downwards on the cola when its well into flowering so I could do the same with the enviro like bigbadb said so I have an HPS and enviro either side of it blazing away. A little extra light never does any harm particularly as it wont add to the heat significantly.
