I would change it before, the more light, the better!!
Enviro's are only better than HPS when the plant is a seedlin or a cutting.

yeh, just 2-3 weeks under the envirolite then finish them under the HPS. same setup as me, but i just vegged under the envirolite then flowered under the HPS. i wish now i'd put the HPS on earlier, so go for it m8.
yes, once mine showed sex i put the envirolite in also for a bit of a mixed spectrum thing.

Yep you need a contactor or your timer will burn out and possably feck up your crop...... Im not sure but I think they control the electrical current!!!!

i never used a contactor, i just set my lights on different timers with one to come on slightly before the other.

Forget the enviro with a hps as you need an enviro too close to the buds for it to be worthwhile, therefore getting in the way of the hps which will be higher
And yes you do need a contactor

For a 400 watter? Start at 18 inches, I would.
Then just use the back of your hand, held at canopy level to test the temps. If its too hot for you, then its too hot for plants.

Cos Owd is a very conscientious type of guy
Seriously though for a 400 Watter a contactor is a DEFO

i got a contactor and got the hps running last night
cant wait to see how they do under that
they are about a foot tall now should i let them grow to about 2 feet before inducing flowering
i am looking to get the most out of the 400w, so i figured they should finish at about 3 feet if i do this= correct??
