Fast growth rates and enhanced yield'

The Waterfarm is a self-contained hydroponic system that consists of a growing pot placed above the nutrient holding pot (approx. 20 Litre working capacity). It works in exactly the same way as the Aquafarm, except it's bigger. The Waterfarm has an air pump that pushes solution up to the clay pebble filled growing pot via a nutrient delivery tube, and distributes it evenly over the surface. The solution then drains through the clay pebbles and over the roots of your plant and down into the reservoir below to be re-circulated. The reservoir is topped up every couple of days and the solution renewed every week. Easy to use system and ideal for mother plants alien2.gif

Hi Guys have been thinking of buying this system x 4 (with controller), my only concern is the noise levels with the air pumps as well as the bubbling water, can anyone tell me if they are noisy, and of course how good are they. 34.gif
Cupboard setup so noise is an issue.

i dont know about noise, i guess really should only be as noisy as the pump is supplied with, i guess you could always opt to buy a silent pump, but ive heard nothing but great thinks about these, talkin like ridiculous amounts per plant

waterfarm is noisy.

How to explain the level - kinda like a dishwasher

mine's not - the pump is the noisiest bit but buy a quiet one and mount it on a mat or something. the water bubbles up from the bottom and squirts through the tube holes. if the tank is full the squirting is audible.
i'd have thought flood and drain would have been better if you want more quiet.

hi gazza dont listen to deejphant they arnt noisy..its just the air pump thats all just wrap in towel job done
pasty man
i've used them and they are a bit noisey. You get quite a loud "glugging" sound. This could be modified, not sure
G-Whizz!
They're as noisey as the pump you use. If you have the wonga to replace the pumps that come with them then fair enough.

If noise is an issue play safe and use compost and pots.

No price can be put on peace of mind wink1.gif

G russian.gifI just bought a water farms 8 controller witch I plan to set up in a cabinet 46wx66hx24d. I will only be able to use 6 of the buckets because the controller is pretty large. I was very easy to set up. that was after I went online and found directions. there is very little on how to put it together in the box. After setting it up I let it run for a few days with just water as to try and get a feel for it. I have always grown in soil. I comes with a air pump nice one that has a manifold with 4 valuves on it. For the money it seems like some real nice stuff I paid only $2633.00 dollars US. You were wondering about the sound. It did not seem to bad little bit of bubbeling, but not to loud to speak of. just in case I plan to inslulate my cab with 1'' foil covered poly styrine foam. It's not bad. The only thing that I plan to do to change mine is to add a buldge pump into the controller so that i can cirrclulate the water and not let it get stagnet in the bottom of the buckets, also add a gate vaulve and tee fitting to the pump so that I can use it to bring water back up to the resivore or to be able to pump it into a bucket to change it. my set up will be in a closet so there is not a lot of room to change more that 20 gallons of nutes. I think the pump will be a worth while investment for $27 for a 525 GPH pump. I will also send a pic of the water farm that I just test run and will be posting a diary of my cabinet build and grow. The cab is going to arrive this week and it will probably take me a week or so to assemble.

I am currently in the middle of my first grow using a Waterfarm and I am seriously impressed!!

Yep, the pump supplied is not the quietest but the fan for extraction is louder!! I bought a seperate pump for around £10 (which isn't used on the Waterfarm) and that is a quiet as, so pretty simple to sort out the noise of the pump!!

I am still using the original one with the farm but it is wrapped in a small towel and I can hardly hear it!!! cool.gif

Good systems, pain in the arse to change the res when the plant gets big and make sure you have plenty of headroom, you will need it!!

A friend i know used one - said the noisy bit was the water dripping into the bottom.
fresh air inspector
The pump will be noisey.....better pump, less noise....usually.

IMHO, the main noise comes from the nutrient being forced through the drip ring........^^^2th mentioned something similar.

You can modify the waterfarm(s) with a control reservoir and a submersible pump........they are much quieter this way round.
Basically, you need a controller reservoir with a float valve....this reservoir is fed by a bigger res or I've seen them connected to mains water supplies.
The nutrient is pumped round the system and falls back to the reservoir by gravity.....a constant level is maintained using the float valve in the contoller res.
Google 'waterfarm modifications for tree growing' wink1.gif

Waterfarms rock........very high yeilding when dialled in right smile.gif
Markymark
Hardly notice the water dripping with the fan and the pump!! And not really much in the way of dripping as the feed ring sits on top of clay pebbles and the bottom of the basket sits in the res by around an inch!

More of a spurt than a drip!! rofl.gif rofl.gif rofl.gif

But have to stick to the fact that if you buy a better pump, then the noise from your fan will drown out everything else!!
KRONK420
Swap the airpump for a water pump mate! Thats what I've done, no noise and no problems to my plants.
