Hi everyone, got some Skunk#1 at 5.5 weeks now and was hoping they were going to show me there sex soon wink.gif

I dont want them to big see so could really do with flowering them off now

Can anybody recall how long the Sensi version takes to show there bits yinyang.gif

leroy
if you cant wait any longer then why not put them in to flower now, they'll show within a week or so,
then when they show sex throw out the males

I did Sk#1, I kept the shorter indica as a motherplant for plant size/bud size. Might grow her out though.

I was goin to say are they in their final pots lol.gif I dunno much bout hydro. I suppose you could flip the lights for a day or two and they might show faster. When you goin to flower em? Leroy might be right!

Thanks for that Johnyblaze, hopefully then they will start to show in a few days.Bad luck with the males though dude sad.gif

Leprechan sweet leaf they are in there final pots, although my profile says hydro this grow is in compost, and i'm impressed so far

The main reason i want to sex them before flowering is it saves me so much work(long story and wont bother explaining) whistling.gif

Thanks for all your input people, invaluable as ever yinyang.gif

i flowered my skunk #1 after 4 weeks and topped them. but theyre fackin huge now, they're touching the ceiling of the cupboard , about 7 feet. im kinda worried now.

I freely acknowledge that much more knowledgeable people than me on uk420 are certain that inadequate vegging produces inferior ganja, but with the limited headroom available indoors I have never had the luxury of waiting for plants to show sex before flowering ... though mine usually do around week 5 of 18/6.

Nearly all my Skunk#1's were sativa in nature and so far as I remember tripled in height - they were certainly the tallest plants in my mixed grows and ended up being lit from the side.

Are they actually flowering ? (I'm wondering if you have a light timing problem)
How high are your lights above the plants ?

theyre about 5 weeks into flower, buds and trichs everywhere, the only thing is the hight. the lights as high as it can possibly go, but ive had to pin on e side of the shade to the ceiling

How tall were they at 4 weeks of veg. ?

Surely they aren't actually still stretching ?

Starting to worry after hearing that Guerillagardener, are you using new bulbs?or could they be on there last legs unsure.gif

The thing is mine are nearly 6 weeks now and are'nt that big really, about 14" high, they do look very indica though wink.gif

Compostv i normal do exactly the same as you and flower before sexing but this time seeing as they are staying quite small thought i'd leave them

Plan on topping just before flowering. Then its just a question of fingers crossed i suppose whistling.gif

I'm pleased some folks are reporting Sativa strong Skunk from Sensi. I first started growing this strain some years ago, and then the plant was a typical short Sativa. If flowered at 12" (as a clone - see later in post) they would finish at around 36 - 40". But over the last three/four years this has (for me, at least) changed completely. The last Skunk I bought (about 18 months ago I think, but not sure) is across the board Indica, very short, broad overlapping leaf blades and flowered at 18" may just about manage 24 - 30" at the finish, maybe. The hit too is much more narcotic and Indica like; gone is the soaring, befuddling, laugh-making Sativa high, arrived instead is a couch-locking smiley dope-weedy stone of a thing. Its still great, don't get me wrong - but when I want a clout round the head from Afghamnistan, I'll grow me some Affie, know what I mean.. wink1.gif
So I am encouraged this is not all around. Maybe I got a few rogue packs over the yaers, here's hoping. Because Skunk No.1, as it was a decade or 2 ago, is one of the finest smoking strains I have ever come across. The original beat the bejaysus out of all the others TBH, it was a truly great strain. Shame if its gone, Rejoice if its back!

Mmmmm
What was the question... me stoned now, afternoon spliff came.....
Oh yeah.
6 - 7 weeks M8, IME.

Oh yeah, listen M8, no fucking about now, y'hear me - don't flower her now.
No.
Clone her, then set the clones off into 12/12 as and when you want. But clone her when she's around the 8 - 10 week point and has revealed her gender and begun to alternate her nodes. Then she's mature, ready for cloning. That's when you take the clones. You can keep the original back as your Mother-plant if you want, or (as I do) you can flower her off as a test smoke if space permits, or else compost her, leaving one of the clones to become future line-Mother.
This way you get full control over everything, height especially wink1.gif

Hmmm..
No
Thought I had summat else to say but it appears not, may even be talking bollox, this Skunk I'm smoking has a sstrange habit of causing that. 31.gif

Not trying to be a clever clogs smarty pants but I really don't understand how anyone can't tell sex after 6 weeks veg of your typical

Dutch hybrids.

My girls(seven diff strains) are 25 days veg and have just got confirmation of my first girl to show femaleness.

My Satori has jeeust produced her first pistils and I've(oh sob sob tears hair)had to bin my 3 ClusterJulies

because they are ClusterJohns.

I think it's down to the fact I get my girls under as much hps as soon as possible.

I grow 24/7 for 3 weeks then 'flip' to 18/6 and bingo I can observe the first tiny pistil on the plant 3 days later.

I think it's also down to me being able to look at the undifferentiated primordia and deduce which way they are gonna go as there are differences between male and female this early in.

Get them under a lot of light from the off and you'll have plants that will yield more and show sex much earlier.

Thanks Arnold for such a detailed response, you crack me up rofl.gif

Unfortunately the ones i have look very indica and am supprised they are so small to tell the truth

Never mind still hoping for a nice strong hit as they do look nice smoke.gif

Hi Doc Rock thats interesting what you say about sexing and will give it a go next time

The trouble with me is its been so long since i've had to sex a plant (clones see) i'm probably missing the obvious sign's whistling.gif

Shame i cant get a pic up so you guys could help me out wink1.gif

Anyway still hav'nt decided what to do with them but when i do will post the results yinyang.gif
goldie_2007
Am growing 2 Dutch Passion SK#1's now which are both indica phenos, bondaged to hell so I couldn't tell you there real height. I sexed mine with my loupe, a week before I could see pistils with my naked eye just 2 days after going 12/12.

You def been reading Rcc botany lol.gif

Anyway, there are differences in the undifferentiated primordia (immature preflowers) but I like to wait to make sure.
4 weeks is plenty. My lot5 still havent shown sex and they are a lot more than 4 weeks smoke.gif I thought I saw male primordia last week but this week they are looking female. unsure.gif
