Full Version: Which Shade For This Space?

The coldness is upon us which for me means I can ditch the cool tube and get a 'proper' reflector set up for my next grow. My grow space is 135cm x 75cm the cooltube doesnt get enough light down to the ends for my liking. Im wondering which reflector to upgrade to unsure.gif

Now I know the 'Diamond' reflector covers a footprint 1.5m square which is great for the width (1.35m) but crap for the depth (0.75m) lots of light reflecting the wrong way on the depth (I want my new reflector to be effecient as possible) So Im also considering an adjustawing now the dimensions of the original adjustawing are 50cm long and 70cm wide (wingspan) ... if I mount this sideways so the wings stretch towards across the 1.35 cm length is this the best way? and is this type of reflector going to be better for my long shaped grow room than a diamond?

Any advice welcomed smile.gif thanks!

ps its a 600w lumatec and I was thinking of mounting it this way

i would look for a double parabolic. essentially its only interested at chucking the light out to the extremes of the crop, and so will stretch your light over that rather long length. enough scatter from the stucko/dimples will fall along the way to keep it even.

you mean like this (pic below)

thats basically the same as the adjustawing but with enclosed ends and fixed, aint I better off with the adjustawing because its in a drobe and I feel an open end reflector will be best for air circulation.

Forget the adjustawing and get a Mantis its better quality.

yeah that kind of thing. all refflected light is aimed towards the perrifery of your grow. The box construction of that design is a little unfavourable but can be used to your advantage if you chop a 3" hole out one of the ends and run a 3" duct from there into your extraction, just to pull a bit.

I used to use an adjusta wing, and do feel the heat from my current reflector (no open ends) is far greater between the plants and the light than it used to be.

I like the look of that one but tis the wrong shape, the original adjustawing is wider than it is deeper but the mantis is the wrong way for my shape box when you consider I need my wings going out to the sides. (see pic 1 for original and pic 2 for mantis)

so would you say Im better off with the original adjustawing (which is double parabolic I think) than the diamond?

i did in fact get an original adjustawing many months ago and it was a perfect shape really for my drobe. I have since retired the drobe and just grow in the corner of he room now
